It’s the weekend, and the sun is still shining! 😎☀️

If you haven’t visited Exotic Zoo this summer yet, what are you waiting for? We’ve been having so much fun! 💚

We’re surrounded by amazing baby animals, our Animal Adventure Scratch Card has gone down a treat, our museum’s Paleoart Competition has been hugely popular, and our Summer Special Mini Meet & Greets have been a big hit too! 🐵

There are more keeper talks and animal feeds than you can shake a stick at, plus you can meet some fantastic local traders in our trader booths by reception! 👀

A huge happy birthday to Chico the macaw! Who is 32 today! 🥳😱

Chico is one of our most character-full animals here at the zoo, and likes to make his presence known! 🥰

You will often hear him squawking, singing and chatting away to his fellow macaw, Captain, as well as to keepers and visitors! 🗣️

He loves a dance too, and will often say ‘hello’ to you if you speak to him! ❤️

Chico and his friend Captain can be found in our rainforest room, or in their outdoor area above the Mara enclosure! Come down this summer and say ‘hello’! 🦜

It’s Wildlife Wednesday at Exotic Zoo 🐌

Did you know, blackberries aren't just a tasty treat, they also make fantastic ink for writing and drawing too! 🎨

Keeper Jack has been working REALLY hard this week, showing Barney the Barn Owl some of his INCREDIBLE artistic talents! 🦉

Simply pick a few blackberries, making sure to leave plenty for the wildlife.

Crush, smash and smush them and then press through a strainer. 🟣🖌️

Then find a good twig and use the juice to draw your favourite animals!

💚 Happy National ZooKeeper Week! 💚

This week we’re celebrating the incredible people who make Exotic Zoo the awesome place it is 🐵

Being a zoo keeper is so much more than feeding animals. It’s early mornings, late evenings, cleaning enclosures, preparing specialist diets, creating enrichment, monitoring health, assisting vets, educating visitors, working as a team and always putting the animals’ welfare first.

It can be muddy, hot, cold, physically demanding and emotionally challenging… but our team turn up every single day with passion, dedication and a genuine love for the animals in their care.

From caring for tiny insects to crocodiles, lemurs, armadillos, reptiles, mammals and everything in between, every member of our team plays an important role in giving our animals the very best lives possible while inspiring thousands of visitors to care about wildlife and conservation.

A huge thank you to every one of our amazing zoo keepers and volunteers. We couldn’t be prouder of everything you do. 💚

If you visit us this week, be sure to say hello to our keepers and give them a well-deserved thank you! 👏🙈
