🕸️ Tonight was… eventful 😅
I decided to pull 4 of the 5 (!!) egg sacs that Morticia, my false widow (Steatoda paykulliana), has laid so far 👀🖤
She absolutely fought me over the last one though… so I gave in and let her keep it 🤣
I opened up what I believe is the second sac she laid, and pictured below are the eggs! Aren’t they amazing?!
One of the craziest things about Steatoda paykulliana is how long the eggs can take to develop — it can be up to 4 months from egg laying to actual spiderlings 🕷️
The first sac was laid around the 25th of March, so there’s still quite a wait ahead! I decided to pull them so I don’t completely lose track and suddenly end up with surprise babies hatching all over her enclosure 😅
Nature is honestly so cool 🖤
