The roll call or recall by name is a simple drill that we do with our own diss and our clients dogs in EVERY SINGLE walk at least once.

Why?

Because:
✅ It gives our dogs a mental task 🧠
✅ It helps our dogs focus even when they're very pumped and fizzy ⚡
✅ Its a key foundation skill for super fun group retrieves, our favourite game 🥎
✅ It helps us rehearse for emergencies and challenging everyday life situations 🛟
✅ We get to practise for beautiful group photos 😉
✅ It prepares it's and our our dogs for the Scurry Dog Everyday Dog trials 🤟🏻

Meet the brilliant trainers on our current Scurry Dog Instructor Course 🌟

Last weekend was the 5 Days 5 Games Camp, bringing all trainers on the Course together for 5 days of workshops, clinics and having fun training dogs in the 5 Games!

Well done to everyone who came and thank you for such a inspirational weekend ✨

The first Scurry Dog 5 Days - 5 Games camp of 2026 of the year is under way!

Tomorrow, inside the Club, we’ll be looking at what your dog can’t tell you…

We’ll be diving into how pain can show up during activities - from subtle changes in movement, hesitation on retrieves, to those behaviours often mistaken for “training issues.”

If you want to better understand your dog, protect their wellbeing, and make sure they’re truly enjoying their work, this session is not to be missed!

Because sometimes it’s not a training problem… it’s your dog asking for help!

🎉 Huge congratulations to Theresa (Hoopers and Hounds, Swansea) on qualifying as a Scurry Dog Instructor!

Theresa says:
💬A very young working cocker spaniel bounced into my life, not by choice but by need – hers!.
It was very quickly apparent that she needed a breed specific outlet. KC Gundog or field gundog training/trials was not something I wanted to pursue, but I needed to fulfil her high working drive whilst living in a pet dog environment.

I found Scurry Dog and I was delighted that the founders had the same positive, force free ethics as me, the course content and materials were well written and expertly delivered, both online and in person.

It was in-depth, structured and as a student I felt encouraged and supported throughout the course and assessments. Is this course just for those that have working dogs – NO, it’s a course that will fulfil the need of most, if not every pet dog and their handlers. Importantly, I as an instructor am encouraged to grow my skills further within Scurry Dog through CPD, shadowing opportunities, events and camps.
