Great time out and about with my mate today. so great to be able to have these dogs off lead, free and still have complete control.

Great start to the day, out for a stroll with buddy and mojo.

The off-switch matters just as much as obedience.
Gus & Pheobie working, then switching off properly.

Freedom isn’t given—it’s trained.
Lenny off-lead and fully accountable.

This week’s crew: Marti, Mojo, Phoebe, Gus & Leonard.

Every walk built around steadiness, structured play, and reliable off-lead freedom.

Not just exercise — training in real life.

Real training, in a real environment 🌲🐾

Out in the woods with Mojo & Lennie—working on:
• Off-lead control
• Sit-stays at distance
• Reliable recall
• Structured retrieves
• Decompression through searching

Two dogs, freedom, distractions—and still able to switch on when asked. That’s the goal.

Because a well-trained dog isn’t just obedient on a field—
it’s calm, responsive, and fulfilled in the real world.

Back to basics with Marti — no shortcuts, just clarity.

We stripped it right back to fundamentals:
• Sit whistle = instant response
• Sit & stays under pressure
• Steadiness tested with thrown retrieves (but staying put while I collect)

Then paid him properly — a few clean retrieves, followed by hunting to switch his brain on and bring arousal back down.

Finished with place work at home to settle and reinforce off-switch.

This is what progress actually looks like — not flashy, just consistent, controlled reps done well.

Back to work with Marti after a couple of weeks off—and to be fair, he hadn’t lost much.

We stripped things right back to basics: sit stays, engagement, and actually listening under low pressure. No rushing ahead, no skipping steps. Just clarity and consistency.

Finished the session how he loves it most—retrieves—with a layer of control added through the stop whistle. Drive is easy to build… control is where the real training happens.

Good reset. Better foundations. Ready to build again.

Next generation stepping in 👊

No shortcuts here — same expectations, same structure, just a different handler. Phoebe working nicely and learning that the rules don’t change depending on who’s holding the lead.

This is how you build reliable dogs… consistency from everyone involved.

Proud moment watching this 👏
