I'm Becky and I'm a dog groomer in Swindon.

I have been working with dogs for over 17 years at a local boarding kennels. During this time I have developed extensive knowledge on all aspects and behavior of dogs. I started to groom dogs around 6 years ago and this became a strong interest and major focus for me as I developed my career. I have always had a love for dogs and caring for them in the best way possible. Grooming has so many healt

h benefits for dogs, it's not just about how they look. Grooming and caring for a dogs well-being has become a great passion for me. I've worked with many different breeds and dogs with a variety of temperaments! I have found nothing more rewarding that gaining the trust and creating a mutual bond with both nervous and aggressive dogs. This enables them to not only become comfortable with the grooming process but to enjoy it, which in turn brings me a great deal of personal satisfaction. I have passed my City and Guilds level 2 and am thrilled to have had the opportunity to open my own Salon in Basepoint Business Centre, SN5 7EX. I am delighted to welcome Lauren (Pawsie Paws) to the new Salon and look forward to many years of working together! It is very important to me to have someone working here with the same passion, skill and love for dogs and what we do! Despite having our own businesses, we work well as a team and can work with families of dogs or individually.

As the weather warms up, ticks become more active—and that means our dogs are at higher risk of picking them up during walks, especially in grassy, wooded, or damp areas.

Ticks aren’t just a nuisance—they can carry diseases that affect both pets and people. The good news is there are simple steps you can take to protect your dog:

✔️ Check your dog daily, especially after walks (don’t forget ears, paws, under collars, and around the tail)✔️ Keep your dog’s coat well-groomed and maintained—this makes ticks easier to spot✔️ Stick to paths and avoid long grass where possible✔️ Use vet-recommended tick prevention treatments✔️ Keep your garden tidy and trimmed

If you do find a tick, remove it promptly with a proper tick tool—never pull with your fingers—and monitor the area.

Regular grooming plays a big part in early detection, so keeping up with appointments can help keep your dog safe and comfortable all season long.

If your dog has a thick, fluffy coat, chances are they’re a double-coated breed — like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, and more. These coats are amazing, but they need proper care to stay healthy!

A double coat has two layers:✨ A soft, insulating undercoat✨ A protective outer coat

Together, they help regulate your dog’s temperature — keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer.

🚫 Common mistake: Shaving a double-coated dogShaving can damage the coat, affect how it grows back, and interfere with their natural temperature control.
