Swipe to the last photograph for the happiest of endings 🥰

We had the lovely Princess in today to be examined and have a post-pregnancy ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. Princess naturally gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens and has taken to motherhood like a duck to water.

Drop a heart below to send this lovely new mum some love 💙

Last week, Dani (RVN), Siobhan (ANA) and their trusty helper, Mable, visited Holy Family Catholic Primary School to talk about the work we do every day to help animals 💙

We thoroughly enjoy spending time in the community educating the younger generation on animal welfare, and hopefully, in turn, inspiring the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Mable was a star and helped to keep the children engaged, so she was treated to a well-deserved pup-cup en route back to our clinic!

It was a family affair today with Hector (Poodle) and Lara (Cockerpoo) both visiting us for procedures 💙

Hector came in for an ear flush, and Lara for a scale and polish. Once they had recovered, vet Tanya took the chance to get outside, and they all had a wander in the garden.

Hector is a BIG fan of vet Tanya, and we interrupted him giving Tanya kisses! As you can see, he wasn't very impressed that we interrupted his one-on-one time! 🥰

Despite the name, blue-green algae isn’t actually algae. It’s a type of bacteria (cyanobacteria) that can produce toxins harmful to both animals and humans. It is a risk in UK lakes, ponds, and slow-moving water, especially in warmer months. It’s more common than many owners realise and isn’t always visible.

There have already been a number of reports across the UK!

⚠️ Why it’s dangerous:
Even small exposure can be toxic if swallowed or licked off fur after swimming.

🚨 Signs of poisoning include:
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Weakness or collapse
Excess drooling
Breathing issues or seizures

🛑 How to protect your pet:
Avoid stagnant or discoloured water
Prevent drinking from lakes or ponds
Keep dogs on a lead near unknown water
Rinse your dog after swimming outdoors

If you suspect exposure, seek veterinary help immediately, as fast treatment is vital. Owners can also call the Animal PoisonLine on 01202 509000.

Sweet Pippa graduated from her final Youth Club with us this week 😍

It is even more adorable that her birthday teddy is almost as big as her! It has been a joy to welcome her into practice and watch her grow in confidence. She has developed into a happy and healthy dog.

The first few months of your puppy’s life are crucial and can affect the rest of their lives. Youth Clubs are monthly appointments which are even free to health club members! If you have a dog under 12 months old, find out more here:

Barbecues are a summer favourite, but they can pose some hidden dangers for our pets if we’re not careful.

🍗 Food hazards:
Cooked bones (like chicken or ribs) can splinter and cause serious internal injuries or choking. Keep plates and leftovers well out of reach!

🥩 Skewers & sharp objects:
Used kebab sticks and skewers can be tempting chew toys for curious pets, but they can cause mouth injuries or internal damage if swallowed.

🌡️ Heat risks:
Pets can burn curious noses and even paws if they jump up to sneak a treat. Pets can also overheat quickly if they’re sitting too close to the action.

🍔 Human foods to avoid:
Rich, fatty foods and foods such as onions, garlic, and sauces can upset your pet’s stomach or be toxic in some cases.

Enjoy your bbqing!

As we head into the warmer months and before peak summer, it is important to know the signs of heatstroke.

Pets can overheat quickly, even on milder days, and heatstroke can become life-threatening if not treated promptly.

🚨 Watch for early warning signs:
Excessive panting or drooling
Lethargy
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Wobbling or collapse

🌡️ Pets most at risk:
Flat-faced breeds (such as French Bulldogs)
Older pets or those with health conditions
Overweight animals
Thick-coated or long-haired pets

🛑 Prevention is key:
Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day
Always provide fresh water and shade
Never leave pets in a parked car. Ever.

If you suspect heatstroke:
✅Move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact our team/your vet immediately.

A little preparation now can make all the difference later. Stay ahead of the heat and keep your pets safe this summer.

Starting the week off with one big smiley face! 😍

Last week, Spud happily graduated from his Youth Club with our RVN Dani. To celebrate, he was showered with many kisses and cuddles, and his birthday bear. Spud just so happened to be Dani's favourite breed, a Border Terrier!

He is always a pleasure to see and has grown into the most adorable boy. If you have a dog under 1 year of age, learn more about our Youth Clubs here:
