Some real classics in this week. We’ve been busy as always and had a good variety of different work in. An MG TF came in for an oil leak, it’s tough to stop an oil leak on a British classic as they were made with oil leaks. Mk2 MX5 rear sills and arches in with Tom, all rust removed and replaced, then seam sealed and zinc epoxy primer applied. We had a future classic in for some work, a lovely Fiesta came in for a timing belt and front brakes were fitted. You can’t beat a floating crank, so the DTI gauge came out to ensure we were bang on with the valve timing. Looking really good for its age. Some more work has been booked in so watch this space. If you do want any work completing with us then get in touch with us to discuss. Have a good weekend

A wet start to the week but that didn’t dampen our spirits. A bit of a Ford week this week. Valve clearance’s adjusted with the old rule of 9 and air leak found on a stunning little Fiesta. The Transit has come in for an underbody treatment. Toms been busy welding and a couple of timing belt jobs with some really worn out tensioners. It’s all the little details that make us who we are. For example the spark plug leads were fouling a bracket and wearing away, this could have caused a misfire but I altered the brackets and prevented this. Little details make a big difference, just like the big 8 pot Brembo brakes and big 22” wheels that we had in as well this week. Thanks for looking, have a great weekend.

Whether it’s a bespoke build from a buck, budget resto or maybe just a repair to get your pride and joy looking and driving great again, we can help. We complete a very wide range of work from vintage to modern and take on all kinds of projects. From brake conversions to a full builds, servicing maintenance and everything in between. We aren’t afraid to get stuck in and fabricate, fold and make what we need if we can’t buy one. We have a large list of vehicles we have worked on from the run of the mill to the really obscure. We specialise in what others don’t want to do and get some fantastic results. We are a family run business and produce some amazing work. If you need help or a small project completing then consider us.

Another busy in the workshop week and missing Tom as he was down at Brooklands on his Heritage Skills Academy apprenticeship week. A whole week learning fabrication and welding to enable him to produce wheel arches and form compound curves on his timber buck. Which he made on his last block release. A few cars out and some new cars in. The Jeep saw its departure as it had had major welding work done on both rear sills and arches. The stunning MG TF returned with a slight oil leak to find and the work on the T4 continues. The series 3 XJ6 is going back together nicely but very impressed to see Tom on Friday, straight in the workshop after a 5 1/2 hr drive and on to his English wheel to finish some rear end bodywork off. It’s been a great week and certainly enjoyed the sunshine. Have a good weekend. Thanks for looking.

An amazing week here at DMG Services, we collected Toms Morgan on Friday from Tony Pearson of the Morgan Three Wheeler Racing club. This will be a new project for Tom to build and to race — hopefully give one or two of the other members some new competition. It’s been gifted to Tom in the hope that it encourages the next generation of club members. I feel very humbled that the club have supported Tom and Sponsored him on his apprenticeship at the Heritage Skills Academy in Brooklands. Tom has been busy welding up an MX5 and removing rust to get the car ready for the Bodyshop. We managed to fit in a few alloy wheel repairs with Toms Terrific Tig skills. I’ve been very busy with some MOT repairs and replacing suspension bushes and shock absorbers. Have a great weekend and thanks for looking.

today with an intercooler expanded and split on the lower right of the first picture. Lovely parallel lines on the ones above, passing warm exhaust gases over the front of the intercooler and cooling the air being forced into the engine. When these do go wonky, they split and hiss, it almost sounds like your exhaust is blowing. Bit of a job to get to it because you have to remove the entire front bumper. Also noticed that the front tyres were wearing wonky and that was due to the lower arm bushes being split on the rear of the arm. New ones on and its back off to the customer.

I’ve been waiting to post this for a while as this was one of our first big restoration projects. A series 3 XJ6 Jaguar. Tom and I spent months welding the floor pans up, inner and outer sills, rear subframe mounting points, front crossmember and most of the rear end that had cracked and rusted away. It was a massive job and returned today from the Bodyshop. Watch this space as we rebuild it and return it to the customer. Have a great weekend

This week we managed to return a Discovery 2 back to its natural environment after a great deal of restoration work to make it great again. A much needed service on the Corvair. I forgot to post up our from the master of metal, Tom. He has been busy all week cutting and refitting new panels to the classic Mini that we have in, We only fit Heritage panels because they fit so well and such good quality. It’s great to see progress and jobs taking shape as we progress with them. I spent the rest of the week looking at brakes that had failed an MOT test. Some were performance related problems other were corrosion issues. Inboard drum brakes on some cars are often never checked. We always check them on a service. Some of these brake pipes are unseen and very close to failing on a 14 year old car. When I replace the pipes and make a neat job it’s a real shame as they are often unseen by the customer. The truth is, I know they are right. Have a good weekend. Thanks for looking.
