Eggsplore the Wonders of Nature this easter with our ‘Guess the Mum’ egg table!🥚 Get up close with real animal eggs laid by many of our residents. From sharks and rays, to reptiles, birds and insects, we will have it all. Learn and appreciate the secrets of the wild 🦈🐊🐌

This event will run on the 12th-13th and the 19th-20th of April just outside our Penguins underwater viewing area. Come and test your knowledge with us!🧠

✨What We’ve Been Up To in 2025✨

It’s been a busy and exciting year here at the aquarium, with plenty of behind-the-scenes improvements to help us care for our amazing animals and enhance the visitor experience.

🐧One of our biggest projects has been essential repair work on our penguin pool, ensuring it remains a safe and comfortable space for our feathered friends. We took this opportunity to also construct a brand-new beach area! This was to help our arthritic penguin Kim by making it easier for her to enjoy a swim, but has been very much enjoyed by our whole colony!

🦈 We’ve upgraded the filtration systems in both our Penguin pool and our shark and ray tank, with a brand new plant room outside. This will help to maintain even better water quality for these incredible species.

🪚You may have seen some ‘coming soon’ signs dotted around recently. We are happy to have introduced two brand-new enclosures—one for our vibrant mantella frogs and another for our fascinating stick insects—giving them upgraded, naturalistic homes to thrive in.

👷🏼‍♂️Outside the aquarium, we’re making big strides with the construction of our new sea wall, which is now nearly complete. This is an exciting step forward as we prepare for our upcoming expansion, and we can’t wait to share more details with you soon!

Thank you for your continued support—we’re always working hard to make St Andrews Aquarium the best it can be for our animals and visitors alike. Stay tuned for more updates, and we hope to see you soon!

Today, we celebrate all the incredible mums—whether you’re a mother, grandmother, stepmum, or a mother figure. Your love, care, and endless patience make the world a better place. 💙

Just like the devoted penguin mums who keep their chicks warm or Caiman mums carrying their babies in the mouths to water, your love is truly one of nature’s greatest wonders. 🐊🐧

🦖🥚 ROAR-some Easter Fun Awaits! 🥚🦖

The countdown is ON! In just 2 days, our Dinosaur Egg Hunt begins at St Andrews Aquarium!

Join us for a prehistoric adventure as you explore the aquarium and search for hidden dinosaur eggs. Keep your eyes peeled—they could be anywhere! Find them all, and you might just win a dino-tastic prize!

While you’re here, step back in time with our “Down with the Dinosaurs” walkthrough, featuring fascinating fossils, fun facts, and more Jurassic surprises!

Our Penguin enclosure is currently undergoing some essential repair works. We have also decided to take this opportunity to carry out some well deserved improvements.

Many of you may know our 11 year female, Kim, has been treated for early onset arthritis for a while now. Due to this her mobility is slightly reduced compared to the other penguins. As a team we have explored options to create a more accessible environment for her. We hope our improvements to the pool and land area will be greatly enjoyed by not only Kim but our entire Penguin colony!🐧

Due to the nature of the works, our Penguins are being housed in their offshow area for a couple of days (and will be enjoying lots of room service from our keepers🍽️) We will be offering a £1 reduction from all tickets during this time. We apologise for the inconvenience, but hope you follow along for the reveal🌊🐧
