Here’s a little before and after of lovely Teddy 🤎

Iv not been as hot on my socials since losing my boy. Navigating grief is not easy and keeping life a bit simpler for a little while has been helping me through.

I made this reel a little while ago but didn’t post it so here it is

This is Kylo. A beautiful bull breed.

This post is not just to show you a beautiful dog. It’s also to show you his paw pads and give you some important information

Kylo is a short haired breed. He sheds a lot but he doesn’t need haircuts

The second slide shows you what his paw pads look like. There is a bit of hair in between all of his pads. This hair acts as cushioning and protects the sensitive skin in between his pads

THIS HAIR DOES NOT NEED CLIPPING AWAY!

If this hair is clipped out then it will grow back thicker and longer and will then need to be clipped all the time
It is totally unnecessary and actually to his detriment to clip this hair completely away.

With long haired breeds this hair grows a lot and does need clipping down so that the dog’s pads can do all the work on the ground

But for short haired breeds like Kylo, this hair should be left alone to do the job it’s there to do

George hates the blaster nozzle on the dryer. It makes him stressed. So I don’t use it. George is happy that I’m listening to his needs

Side note: We’re only perfectionists like this with the right dogs. Meaning the ones who are happy with being groomed.

Those who struggle need a groomer to not be a perfectionist but to help them through the groom in the most low stress way possible. Focussing on reassuring them emotionally, rather than on aesthetics

There is a place for all dogs and a groomer for them. We are all living beings with different goals and experiences

At Marfa’s Mutts we adapt to the dog in front of us and their individual needs. Always 🤎
