It's Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month and we want to give a huge shout out to our wonderful nurses 🐾. From comforting anxious pets, watching over them and advocating for them, to supporting their worried owners, they always go above and beyond! Their hard work often happens behind the scenes. A big shout out to our Qualified Veterinary Nurses, Ellie and Helen, and to our student Nurses, Leah and Lexi. Thank you for all the care and kindness you show to the animals and their families every day 🐶🐱. Treating every pet as our own.

What happens to your cat when you leave them with us for the day? Gabby came in to be neutered today. Castrating cats keeps them from roaming, reduces risks of fatal diseases and helps control the local cat population. Jpin Gabby on his big day at the vets 😻😺

Romeo, came to us on Valentines day- a stray. We think he was hit by a car and had a broken leg and half a tail. Sadly, he lost that leg and most of his tail and then developed a bladder condition. However, we are hopeful he will improve and we can find him a nice home 🐈

Thank you Mutts n Moggies Motel, Marie Higgins for rehoming this lovely girl who due to no fault of her own and unseen circumstances had to be rehomed from her original, lovely home. Not the first time you've helped us help a dog ❤️❤️ You are stars ✨️

We work with many very deserving charities at Family Friends Vets. We hope to highlight each of them individually but today it is Slough Cats & Kittens that we want to give a shout out to. We have worked with Slough Cats and Kittens for many years. Their team works tirelessly for the cats who need them most: the frightened strays, the abandoned mums and the sick and injured.
These 3 kittens are part of five that they recently neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before they went to their new homes.
This Christmas, if you are thinking of giving to a charity, we urge you to consider Slough Cats and Kittens. Thank you Slough Cats and kittens - you are true heroes to the animals we all care so deeply about.

For so many vulnerable cats, winter is the hardest time of year, but your kindness can give them warmth, safety, and the chance of a loving home.

You can find them on Facebook at: “Slough CATS&kittens Rescue” or alternatively you can contact them via email on [email protected]

Ellie, the little white Bichon you see reigning supreme at Family Friends Vets finished her last dose of chemotherapy last Friday 💊. Helen, our nurse got her some goodies to celebrate 🥳 🎉 Ellie was told she had a 20% chance of living past 2021 by 3 different oncologists but Ellie has a habit of doing her own thing.
Depending on the cancer, chemotherapy can help with symptoms and prolonged their lives. Well done Ellie. You are a fighter ❤️

Callie, the greyhound princess 👸 came to see us for a check up today. Callie makes us smile, because, despite the various treatments she has had, she still loves us all and demands biscuits from us everytime she comes. Once the biscuits stop, she will lie down in the middle of the room and goes to sleep while her mother chats to the vets 😂 Sometimes, people have had to step over Callie on the waiting room floor during a busy surgery to get to the consult rooms, but Callie doesn't let small things like that disturb her beauty sleep. Milo came to see us with a non-healing wound on his chest this evening. Milo can be short tempered but his clever mummy brought some lick e lix with her and kept him occupied while we clipped, cleaned and stapled his wound. Milo tolerated the whole process rather well and kept his cool.
If the wound is superficial, we prefer staples as the patient doesn't need to be anaesthetised and it's quicker. It is also lighter on the owner's wallet.
Well done Milo's mummy for your proactive thinking.
