Why horses?

Because horses don’t judge.
They respond honestly, calmly and consistently.

For many of our learners, horses become:
🐴 A reason to attend
🐴 A safe emotional connection
🐴 A way to regulate anxiety
🐴 A confidence builder
🐴 A pathway back into learning

Through riding, horse care, outdoor learning and therapeutic relationships, we see young people achieve things they never thought possible.

In conjunction with the Equine Massage Academy, I am delighted to be able to offer these in-person training opportunities for therapists and owners, and other professionals with an interest in these amazing alternative and complementary therapies 😊

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a unique, trauma-informed equine learning provision supporting children and young people.

Sometimes when we go quiet… it’s because we’re working harder than ever behind the scenes. ❤️

This bank holiday has given us chance to reflect on just how far SAFE Equestrian has come.

From a small dream…
To a growing therapeutic equine provision supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, anxiety, trauma, SEND and those struggling in traditional settings.

We’re now preparing for our next huge chapter:
⭐ Expanding our alternative provision
⭐ Moving toward becoming an Ofsted-registered independent school
⭐ Growing our charity and community projects
⭐ Building opportunities for young people through horses

We’re incredibly proud of the safe, welcoming environment we’ve built together.

And yes…
There’s ALWAYS tea, coffee and Victoria sponge waiting for parents. ☕🍰

What a beautiful end to the term and start of the bank holiday...

✨ We’re incredibly proud and excited to share that SAFE Equestrian – Learning with Horses has been nominated for the BBC Radio Humberside “Make a Difference” Awards! ✨

To be recognised for the work we do supporting children and young people with SEMH, SEND, anxiety, trauma, and additional needs through equine-assisted learning truly means the world to us. 💜🐴

Every young person who walks through our gates brings courage, resilience, and potential — and this nomination reflects the dedication of our amazing team, volunteers, families, commissioners, schools, and community who support our vision every single day.

From helping young people rebuild confidence and re-engage with education, to creating safe spaces where they can regulate, connect, and thrive — we are honoured to make a difference alongside such incredible people.

Not every battle is visible.
Sometimes the strongest people are the ones quietly carrying the heaviest thoughts.

One thing we see every day at SAFE Equestrian is the calming power of connection — a horse doesn’t care what grades you got, how your day went, or what struggles you’re facing. They simply meet you where you are. 🐴

For many of our children, young people, and adults… the yard becomes more than somewhere to ride.
It becomes a safe space to breathe, reset, smile again, and feel understood.

This week, check in on your people.
Send the message. Make the call. Sit with them.
Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference. 💜

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

At SAFE Equestrian, this week is one that sits incredibly close to our hearts.

Every single day we see the difference kindness, connection, fresh air, animals and simply being listened to can make to someone’s wellbeing. Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs don’t happen in a classroom or office… they happen beside a horse, during a quiet moment in the yard, or over a brew and a chat. 🐴☕

We know life can feel overwhelming at times — for children, young people and adults alike. That’s why creating a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space will always be at the centre of what we do.

Horses have a special way of helping people slow down, regulate emotions, build confidence and feel understood without words. 💜

This week, and every week, remember:
✨ It’s okay to ask for help
✨ It’s okay to take a pause
✨ It’s okay to not be okay

Be kind to yourselves and to each other. You never truly know what someone may be carrying behind their smile.
