What do you consider is a 'problem' with your horse? Be honest nowπŸ€”

Won't load
Can't stand still to mount up
Needs to move all the time
Barging
Separation anxiety
Tries to bite/ bites
Food aggression
Nervous
Fearful
Spooky
Hates being brushed/ touched
Won't pick up feet
Tail swishing
Ear pinning
Pulls away from you
Easily distracted
Rushes
Heavy in your hand

The list is endless

If you don't consider any of these to be a problem you're making your life and your horses life more difficult than it needs to be and you've become used to micro managing.

Any horsey friends out there dealing with sarcoids?
(WARNING - graphic image in the comments which I think is a thing of beauty but that's me πŸ˜„)

I'm using Omega Equine Sarcxpell in conjunction with Thuja cream (which did nothing on its own) and my mares sarcoid dropped off last night.
I've used it for just over month and - result πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Still some healing to go but I highly recommend this supplement. I know it works.
Michaela Pollitt at Equisign Tack and Feed told me about it and she would not recommend something unless she was πŸ’― confident of its success.
She has it in stock all the time.

Thank you Michaela. I've sent an email to omega to congratulate them.
I'm delighted with the result 😊😊😊

Today I conducted a fab polework session with this super little mare and her lovely owner.

Ellie tends to get worried and can use speed to deal with her anxiety.

At the beginning of this session she needed to move her feet which her rider managed very skillfully and then she settled to the exercises.
She did so well and, by the end, was drawn to the poles as her safe place.
Here she can be seen resetting her nervous system and chillaxing.
Well done Ellie and Debs.

There's a saying "just because we can it doesn't mean we should"

Rosie has an aversion to the sound of Velcro!
I have tried to help her understand it and get comfortable with it but she's made it clear that it worries her.

I now believe that Velcro hobbles would have been used on her when she was put to a stallion as a 3 year old 😑 (I get that the stallion has to be protected, but what about the mares?)
She had a life experience at a young age which will never go away.

So, I've decided to remove anything with Velcro from her life. I consider it further abuse, and that's not fair of me to subject her to it.

Her emotional welfare is as important to me as her physical welfare.

I'm always grateful for such lovely feedback. Thank you so much 😊

"We are absolutely delighted with the help, advice and support we received from Julie recently. We had a horse terrified of hose pipes and getting bathed to the point we had all but given up. This week, we have managed to safely wash her, which is beyond my wildest expectations. Without Julies superb tips and advice, I know this would not have happened. We couldn't be any more delighted. Thank you so much. Shelley & Ray"

For once we had glorious weather this morning so we went for a walk and then played football followed by some liberty work.

I've been trying to capture a pic of Rosie's gorgeous eye. It has a lovely blue ring around the outside.
Finally got it this morning in the sunshine but the last pic shows why you should never work with kids or animals as they say!! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Introducing Rosie, my lovely 6 year old Clydesdale - a recent addition to our zoo!!

Maybe coming up to Christmas wasn't the best time to get a new horse but I've used the time wisely.

She's seen the dentist, farrier, saddle fitter and bodyworker and I've been busy going through what I call my 'pre flight checks'.

Finding out what she knows/needs to know and understand, what I need to teach her and just getting to know her.

The last couple of days I've worked on getting her focus on me. I don't want her to be glued to me but I want her attention when I ask for it.
This is partly for safety but also because there's no point asking for something if they're ignoring you.

If you only work the body you're only working half the horse - you need the mind as well.

I love these pics of her - she left her hay to acknowledge me and I have both eyes and ears on me.

Just a bridle to sort now and I can begin ridden work 😊

It's not every day I get to work with a four month old baby. He was such a delight 😊
Of course, it was, literally, baby steps for him but all things his owner can instill in him so that he grows to be a gentle, confident, well mannered adult.

You're never too young (or old) to learn a good foundation. Taught him about personal space, good leading and understanding steady pressure - all essential skills for any horse.
