A letter to my boy…

Dear Lucky,

Today is your 9th birthday. You’ve been to Chain Lane for your brekky (massive thanks to the girls in Eat Munch who always make sure he has his sausages!), and for always making sure there is a cuddle waiting. You’ve had a little birthday trim and now you are all snuggled up in your new garment from and the gorgeous Penny (thank you both so much). But I will never ever be able to repay what you have done for me.

We had a lovely house, a family, no money worries and in the space of 8 months we lost everything due to a little skid mark called MY DARLING HUSBAND 🤡

We lost our family, our home and you lost your two big brothers all within the space of 8 months. There have been days I have not wanted to get out of bed, talk to anyone or even breathe at times.

How can I ever repay or thank you little one for being the backbone of my life, my hot water bottle, my emotional support, my doorbell, my protector, my housemate, my snuggle buddy, my gorgeous little niblet, my whole entire world?

To me you are not just my dog, you are my everything and I am so utterly blessed I decided to take you on (whilst plotting our escape from the hell we once lived in). I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to take care of you with two others to look after and going back to being a single income household.

I would be so lost without you my guy. I love you so much.

Fillet steak for you tonight my mate, your absolute fave!

Exactly how I felt about my Eddy 🐈

His name is Oliver now. And he's finally home...for good. 🧡 🐾

Please send some love to this sweet old man. He deserves the world. I found his owners...and they don't want him back. They say he's "too old" now. That he's "not the same."

But when I look into his tired eyes, full of sadness and confusion, all I see is a soul that still has so much love left to give.

He didn't ask for much—just a warm blanket, a gentle hand, and someone to sit with him while he healed. And even after being abandoned, he still leaned into my touch like he was saying, "Thank you for seeing me."

I don't know how someone could let go of a heart like his. But I know this: he'll never feel unwanted again.
Not on my watch. Not ever.

I’m constantly being asked how much for a groom. While I believe this is a legitimate question unfortunately it’s not as easy to answer and it shouldn’t be the key to finding the best fitting groomer for your dog.

My grooms are based on individual dogs and their lifestyle, it’s not a 1 price fits all grooms/dogs from the same breed. So I require extra information than a ‘how much to groom my dog’ question.
What breed?
Coat type?
What style?
How old?
Behaviour?
How much brushing do you do?
What kind of walks do you go on?
Do they like brooks/water?
Do they have skin issues/allergies?

It’s also not about price, it’s about the time and effort we put into building a solid relationship of trust, it’s about the amount of training and regular refresher training we carry out, it’s about the equipment we use, the maintenance we pay for on said equipment, it’s about the extras we offer alongside the full groom (inbetween care) it’s about the advice we give for free, it’s about the out of hours care we give, it’s about the knowledge we hold, it’s about the behaviour training we’ve carried out, it’s about the care we give before, during and after the groom, it’s about the security we offer, it’s about the ear and shoulder we offer at the door, it’s about the health changes we notice since the last groom and the lives we’ve saved by a simple vet app suggestion, it’s about the out of hours worry we hold and the check in texts we send, it’s about getting to know your dog and knowing how much they can tolerate, it’s about a full service including behind the scenes.

So when you are looking for a new groomer please think about why and what you want for you and your dog, not about getting the cheapest groom.
