☀️ HEATWAVE SALON NOTICE ☀️

We are currently looking into air conditioning for the salon, however due to planning permission this may take a little while. These rules will still apply regardless, as your pets’ safety always comes first 💜

We always closely monitor temperatures and may open earlier and close earlier to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

On particularly hot days, we will not book in:
• Brachycephalic breeds (Shih Tzus, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Cavaliers,Persians etc)
• Puppies
• Elderly pets
• Any pets more at risk of heat-related illness

Many people do not realise these pets are at a much higher risk of heat stroke, even during short journeys or normal grooming appointments.

If you have booked online for one of the above pets during very hot weather, your appointment may need to be rearranged to a cooler day for their safety.

🐾 Please DO NOT walk your dog to the salon during high temperatures. Once temperatures reach 20°C+, pavements can become unsafe and dangerous for dogs.

Any dogs walked to the salon showing signs of heat stress will be sent home and the booking fee will be lost.

We never want to shave coats off — honestly, a tidy scissor trim is usually much easier and nicer for everyone involved ✂️💜

But when matting becomes tight against the skin, it can pull constantly, cause pain, trap moisture and make it difficult for pets to move comfortably. In those cases, removing the coat safely and humanely is the kindest option.

Every groom at Woof & Meow is based on welfare first. Sometimes that means going shorter than planned so we can get your pet comfortable again and give the coat a healthy fresh start.

The good part? Hair grows back, and together we can rebuild a coat that works for both your pet and your routine with regular maintenance appointments and home brushing 🐾

Rescue dogs can come with fears we can’t see.
Sometimes grooming is completely new to them. Sometimes they’ve had difficult handling in the past. Sometimes they just need a little more time, patience, and understanding.

Bringing a photo to your grooming appointment can help — but the right photo makes all the difference ✂️
A haircut that works beautifully on one coat type may not be realistic, manageable, or even possible on another.
The best reference photos:
• match your dog’s coat type
• show the full body
• include a clear face shot
• look similar in size/build to your dog
