🐾 Spot Stress Signals Early 🐾
Dogs don’t suddenly “snap”, they give us little signals first. Learning to spot these signs early means we can help them before they feel overwhelmed.
👀 Body Language
Lip-licking, yawning, stiff or tense posture… subtle clues your dog may be uncomfortable.
⚖️ Tipping Points
“threshold” is the moment your dog shifts from thinking to reacting. Once they’re over it, they’re too stressed to take in new information.
📉 Staying Under Threshold
When your dog is calm enough, they can learn and process training. Push them too far, and it often leads to shutdowns or outbursts.
⏸ Take Regular Breaks
Build confidence slowly. Give your dog space, celebrate small wins, and remember: progress isn’t linear.
Spotting stress early isn’t just about training, it’s about setting your dog up for success and making life easier for both of you.
