Hard to accept.
Because it always feels like you should be doing more.
Trying just a little bit harder.
Pushing through and getting closer.

But when your dog is growling, lunging, fixating, or can’t hear you anymore, they’re telling you something very clearly.

“I can’t cope here.”

Distance isn’t avoiding the problem.
It’s how you change it.

It’s where your dog can breathe again.
Where they can look, think, choose, adapt, shake it off, and slowly start to feel safe.

That perfect, individual distance changes and lessens over time and that’s were progress happens.

The goal should never be to push them through it.
It rarely helps and can create more triggers, or even increase the distance they need.

If you really want to make a difference, hear what their body is telling you.
And that starts with listening.

Their body language has been telling you all along.
