In an era marked by "cancel culture" and widespread criticism on social media, actor Andrew Garfield recently defended Mel Gibson, whose career as an actor and director has faced significant challenges.

Gibson troubles began in 2006 after his arrest for driving under the influence, an event that marked the start of a decline in his career. Although he issued public apologies, the incident left a lasting impact on his reputation.

In 2016, Gibson directed the acclaimed war drama *Hacksaw Ridge*, which earned Garfield an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and Gibson a nomination for Best Director.

Years later, in October 2024, Garfield spoke about Gibson in an interview with *People* magazine, reflecting on his personal and professional journey:
"I’ve come to understand that people can heal, that they can change, and that they can seek help. Everyone deserves respect, and everyone deserves second, third, and even fourth chances. None of us are perfect."

Garfield added: "Mel has gone through an incredible healing process. Thank God for that because he an exceptional filmmaker. He deserves to continue creating films and sharing stories. He has a deeply compassionate and generous heart. He the kind of director who would walk over to the monitors with tears in his eyes, fully connected to the emotions of a scene. I trusted him completely. He a storyteller who feels everything so viscerally. His empathy is extraordinary."

13 years ago, Lola Anderson's dream was to win an Olympic gold medal in rowing. She wrote it in her diary, but later went on to throw it away 📝

Months before he died of cancer, her dad Don gave her a note. It was that exact diary entry. He had found it, kept it, and saved it for her 🥰

Her moment finally came at Paris 2024, as she won an Olympic gold medal in rowing for Team GB 🥇

Truly inspirational, he would be so proud ❤️
