Competitor Notice - BD Show Saturday 23rd May 2026
You may have seen that British Dressage issued a number of mandatory protocols today in light of the increase in reported cases of Equine Influenza and in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
A summary of these as follows :
Passport checks:-
Vaccination checks for all horses will now be in operation at BD affiliated venues for competition and training activity. These will take place either in advance or on arrival at the venue and before unloading.
Unvaccinated / lapsed horses arriving on site will not be allowed to compete. This will also apply to all horses competing in unaffiliated activity on the same day.
Please note that members are already required to have up-to-date vaccinations for their horses prior to competing, as stipulated in the Members’ Handbook.
Refer to rule 10 ‘Equine Influenza Vaccination’ of the Members’ Handbook for guidance on the current vaccination requirements.
Vaccination protocols:-
We are strongly recommending that all members move to a six-month vaccination cycle to ensure optimal protection when mixing with other horses. If your horse’s last vaccination was more than six months ago, we recommend that you bring their annual booster forward to provide sufficient cover when competing during the summer season.
In view of the above, we strongly recommend that you check your horse or ponies vaccination status in advance of attending our event this Saturday to ensure compliance with these requirements.
Please note that any horse or pony attending who does not have the required vaccinations in place will not be allowed to disembark and will not be allowed to compete.
We would be obliged if you could forward a copy of the relevant pages from your horse or ponies passport to us in advance of the event along with the rider and class details . This will enable the smooth running of the event .
If this is not done then please allow additional time for checks prior to parking on the day .
If you have any questions or concerns please please PM us or WhatsApp Carol on 07986687710.
