Just had 2 more dumper truck loads of sub base delivered so now I've got 30 ton to make our new entranceway with. I need it strong enough to take the weight of the lorry which will carry my shipping container mushroom grow rooms onto the land. When I eventually open up to do events on the here this is where you'll arrive πŸ₯°πŸ„

Here’s another sneaky peak at the slow and steady process being made over at the farm.
It’s not a quick journey to off grid life but we are loving every step and hope you’ll enjoy watching us grow πŸŒ±πŸ„

New and updated multi-mushroom tincture is in stock! πŸ„

I've swapped the turkey tail out and replaced it with birch polypore that I foraged as I think it's a close alternative and has some amazing medicinal benefits!

Multi-blend tincture now contains:
* Lions mane (grown my me)
* Reishi (grown my me)
* Chaga (foraged from Scotland)
* Maitake (grown by me)
* Shiitake (grown by me)
* Birch polypore (foraged from Dartmoor)

All individually triple extracted using ultrasonic, water and pure organic alcohol, concentrated to 1:2.5 (1g of dried mushroom per 2.5ml) then mixed together in equal parts.

You can get one from my website... πŸ₯°

Last year we were lucky enough to acquire some land and slowly but surely we are making it into a place we want to be full time. At the moment it’s a lot of ground work - but there are huge plans in the works and we are really excited for the future and to take you along with us!

Found some lovely looking oyster mushrooms growing from a Premier shop sign πŸ„πŸ€©

Perfect opportunity to clone it!

Once I've let these tissue sample grow out a bit on the agar, I'll transfer a bit onto another plate to make sure it's free of contamination, then I'll transfer a bit of that plate into liquid culture
Then expand the liquid culture onto grain, then the grain onto dowels and bulk substrate. Then the dowels will go into wooden logs and the bulk substrate into the fruiting room.

Bish bash bosh, you've got yourself infinite mushrooms πŸ„πŸ˜…

Native English reishi mushrooms.

We're spending the morning harvesting reishi, started off by choosing some choice mushrooms from the grow room to then dust off the spores. Reishi spores are medicinally active and contain different sort after compounds to the reishi fruiting body. I dont usually harvest them as you don't get that much spores for the effort of collecting them. Our focus is on the fruiting bodies as that's when the majority of the medical research has been focused.

In Asia they optimise for spore collection by growing in polytunnels with each reish mushroom bring contained within it's own cardboard tube to keep all the spores together. Maybe next year I'll give that tech a try to we can get more spores.

Weve been dusting off the spores we've got and then chopping the mushrooms off the substrate to begin dehydrating them.

First step of making potent extract is ensuring you've got high quality mushrooms πŸ₯°πŸ„

The reishi grow tent is popping off, here I've grabbed a couple of the blocks to harvest with the intention of turning them into a reishi artwork sculpture. Pretty awesome looking right?!

Most of these will be extracted for tinctures, hopefully I'll have enough to keep us going through the winter. They like the warmer temps so I don't tend to grow it in the colder months.

Comment if you want one yourself, I'm might even do a giveaway of one of them.

Reishi is such an amazing medicinal mushroom. For those who don't know it's been highly research through human clinical trials for the treatment of cancers showing extremely positive results, most of the trials have been conducted by combining reishi with existing treatments like chemotherapy and have shown that supplementing reishi alongside it has a strong statistical improvement for recovery.

Reishi has also been shown to have other benefits too including improving sleep quality, lowering cortisol the stress hormone , reducing inflammation, it's got antihistamine effects, supporting the immune system and quite a few others perks. It's seriously potent stuff! I've growing it!

Went for a lush forage looking for fly agaric and birch polypore. Loads of mushrooms about everywhere you look.

Found some interesting boletes, turkey tail and feild mushrooms, plus the fly agaric and polypores I was searching for πŸ₯°πŸ„
