Last Thursday looked a little different for me.

I spent the day volunteering at Animals In Need Northamptonshire, helping with procedures for shelter animals who’ve had a tough start.

17 anaesthetics in just 7 hours… all while managing on a broken foot.

By the end of it, I was completely exhausted, but also quietly proud.

Because behind every procedure was a dog or cat getting a second chance… the kind they deserve.

It’s hard not to feel it when you see just how many have been abandoned.

A reminder, if ever we needed one, that kindness and care still matter more than anything.

Happy Easter from all of us at Jarden Vets 🐣🌼

We hope you have a lovely, relaxed weekend with your families and your companions.

A quick but important reminder…
Chocolate and hot cross buns might be a treat for us, but they can be dangerous for our companions. Please keep them well out of reach over the Easter break.

Opening hours over Easter:

Saturday: Open as usual, 9am – 12pm
All other days: Emergency care only until Tuesday morning.

If you need us during out of hours, please call 01234 746325 and we’ll be there to help.

Take care, enjoy the weekend, and give your companions an extra cuddle from us 🐾

It only takes a moment…

One minute, everything’s normal.
Next, you realise your companion has eaten something they shouldn’t.

That’s exactly what happened to little Ziggy this weekend.

Chocolate might seem harmless, but for dogs it can be toxic very quickly. Ziggy had eaten a dangerous amount of Easter egg, so we needed to act fast. After the initial call we advised he be brought in, he was examined promptly on arrival, and we safely made him sick to remove the chocolate before it could cause any harm.

The good news is that he was home and back to his usual mischievous self in no time.

It’s a reminder of how quickly things can change, especially at this time of year when chocolate is everywhere.

Here’s what Ziggy’s carers said:

"Steve and the team at Jarden’s were fantastic when our puppy needed some emergency out of hours treatment. They were responsive, supportive, and informative and reacted fast to ensure the risk to our dog was minimised.

They maintain clear communication before, during and after the treatment, ensuring that our dog had the best care possible.

Jarden’s are a great asset to anyone with pets in the Olney area!"

If you’re ever unsure, don’t wait it out or turn to Google.
Give us a call, anytime. Acting quickly can make all the difference.

And with Easter around the corner, please keep those chocolate treats well out of reach

This evening a kind member of the public brought this sweet old cat into our emergency service.
He has what looks like an old injury to his front left leg causing him to limp heavily.
He has made himself at home and eaten well.
He was found in Yardley Hastings at the car park of the Yardley Arts/The Old School Hall.
Please contact us if you think he may belong to you.

We've been overwhelmed by the lovely comments people have been leaving for us recently. They really do mean so much to our whole team, thank you. šŸ¤

Here’s one that particularly touched us:

"I visited Steve and his lovely practice yesterday after following their journey of opening a new start-up. As a veterinary nurse myself, I know how important a welcoming team and calm atmosphere are for both carers and their companions, and Jarden Vets is exactly that and so much more.

The facilities behind the scenes are fantastic and clearly designed with both patient care and staff workflow in mind. Everything feels so organised and thoughtfully planned.

What stood out the most, however, was Steve himself. He is genuinely one of the kindest and most passionate people I have ever met in this profession. You can instantly tell how much he cares for every companion that walks through the door, treating them with the same care and compassion as if they were his own.

If you are looking for a veterinary practice where your pet will be treated with genuine care, kindness and respect, this is truly the place."

Some feline companions can find vet visits a little overwhelming, especially if there are canine patients in the waiting room.

That's why we've added raised shelves for carriers, helping them feel safer and more settled. We also have curtains that can be drawn to give them a little privacy while they wait.

Small touches like these go a long way in keeping our feline visitors calmer and more comfortable during their visit. šŸ’š

If you have any questions, or would like to come and have a tour of our facilities, you're more than welcome to get in touch. Call us on 01234 746325 to arrange.
