🖐️ Important update 🖐️
So we are now very aware that over the summer months we are expecting sudden periods of extreme temperatures as we see the figures reaching their highest after midday (28+ degrees)
As qualified dog groomers our number one priority is your dogs welfare at all times so we will be rescheduling and/or moving dogs earlier in the day with appointments to ensure your dogs can be groomed safely & taken home appropriately against the hotter times.
We ask that you please bare with us & be as flexible as possible as we try to accommodate everyone & ensure that the scheduled grooms can go ahead where possible.
If anyone has any concerns regarding their dogs appointment & how they are coping with these temperatures please don’t hesitate to make contact via WhatsApp
We have a number of messages to respond to next

Transformation’s for Rigsby’s 💙 groom still just a puppy but now on his 4th visit & he can just about make 90mins before he tells me he’s tired (yes we have to read dogs too)
Bobbys brief was take me one shorted for summer, he’s one of our larger cockapoos & pawrents do a great job brushing his coat & can take a 10wk schedule with no matting, he’s excellent for his grooms & we have the best bond 💙
Lucy & Daisy 🩷 as short as possible for the summer (just don’t touch Lucy’s feet or you will have blood on your hands) made them both comfortable & no teeth showing on this visit (we are building trust again) reward was nice summer Bandanas as it had also been Daisy’s (the most tiniest dog in the world) birthday 🎂
Just these 4 adorable dogs shows how we have to adapt to each & every dog that visits & how the bonds are built 🐶🐾

Early start for Hugo 💙 this morning 7am, 7:45am bath, dried & brushed ready for his full groom, kept in a nice chilled salon for his full groom & taken home by 9am 🙌
With having no other dogs today i treated myself to breakfast in the sunshine before it got too hot for me too, really hope everyone is managing to keep all their pets cool, i believe just one or two more days & we should get our cooler summer back 🙏🏼🐶🐾

🖐️important update 🖐️
So this week certainly looks a little different for both Sonia & Kaye,
Extreme temperatures means no grooming !
We take absolutely no risk when it comes to heatstroke !
Our week starts at 7am every day, with both the bathing & drying room & cutting room set to a nice cool temperature (air con gets too cold for us but the dogs are grateful)
All dogs will be home by midmorning as the crazy heat starts to ramp up to stupid temperature’s
We think we have nearly spoken with everyone that was due in this week & thank you all for being understanding on be cancelled for your dog’s welfare or moved to a earlier time
We really do appreciate you all
I hope everyone manages to keep their dogs hydrated & chilled as possible in the next 5 days 🙏🏼Our dogs at home - Our hand towels are frozen and ready to swap out to let our dogs cool down & the yellow melon (no seeds) has been cut up and frozen ready to give our dogs freely 👍

Also this little (she’s tiny) gorgeous puppy 🩷 had her 1st birthday on the day of her grooming, she’s just doing amazing after the little visits she had with Kaye they have a beautiful bond ❤️

So back mid February Sonia took her mums old rescue Toy poodle Teddy to a little grooming competition, they did amazing & had a lovely day, desperate for a groom now & the hot weather hit us all, lucky for Teddy he has air conditioning & was lovely & cool but today Sonia managed to get him in for a groom, 11 weeks it been & not one tangle or Matt (& he doesn’t get brushed just cuddled ! ) he’s just got the best coat (most dogs would be matted after 6-8 weeks ! ) 🙌 this little lad is just so cute 💙🐶🐾

📩 Important update regarding next weeks temperatures & our plans 📩
Things will look a little different next week in the salon with the temperatures set to hit 33 on the outside ! We do have air con in the salon and can regulate our temperature but !
We will be making contact with all customers & depending on age, breed & how they have currently been with the hotter weather. Older & younger dogs & short nosed breeds also need to be considered as these dogs are known to be at higher risk of heatstroke.
Each & every dog will be risked assessed on a number of things against their grooming needs & every customer will be contacted & spoken too to agree a plan.
It leaves Sonia & Kaye on earlier mornings so we can get the dogs home before the heat hits & also if the customer has air con in their vehicle.
I hope everyone understands our final decision & at the very best to help get your dog in nice and early for their scheduled grooms if we feel the groom would help their health & well being.
We will not risk heatstroke & please remember this can come on very quickly with not many signs
Please can we also ask on the day of your dogs early morning groom you keep your dog chilled & relaxed before they arrive

Kaye had just the best time introducing puppy Brixton 💙to the grooming salon today, this young fella is in his training to become very social around everyone living at akathehorseshoelavendon

Puppy spam 💙💙🐶🐾
Rufus a labradoodle 7 month old puppy had only visited the groomers once before,
once bathed & dried I could see he needed at least shape around his head & neck & a body tidy up, he managed the process very well thankfully but soon became tired after 1hr & 15 mins, we will be having him on short frequent visits to bond & now learn to stand on the table as he’s a little delayed on knowing this as yet 💙
Rigsby’s visited for his 2nd puppy session & this time was amazing, knew the bathing, drying & brushing process, wasn’t nervous for a full nail cut We then worked on using a comb to check all his coat condition & sharp scissors all around his head, totally relaxed, had his pads & hygiene cleared of hair & a run around the garden with a few treats, happy healthy & bonding really well, puppy sessions are key to relaxed dog grooming for life for them (photos are after bathing & drying) 💙🐶🐾
