Info to consider when looking for a groomer……..
Over the past 10 years
(since we opened the salon) the grooming industry has boomed with new groomers popping up in every area, sometimes with multiple groomers in one area!!
Unlike vets that have strict regulations to follow the grooming industry currently has no regulations, which means that anyone could pick up a pair of clippers or scissors and call themselves a groomer.
Scary hey!!!
To achieve a professional dog grooming qualification costs thousands of pounds.
We invest in our education which never stops, we attend events and seminars to keep up with trends and are constantly improving our knowledge and grooming techniques.
We buy the best products and equipment, so that our customers and their dogs get the very best service.
Here’s a list of what to look for when choosing the right dog groomer for you and your dog……..
Are they sufficiently qualified?
A good groomer will happily show you their qualifications should you ask for them.
Are they canine first aid trained?
And if so are they up to date as it should be renewed every 3 years.
Again a qualified groomer would happily show you any certificates they have.
Are they members of any organisations eg:- British dog groomers association or IPG
Are they suitably insured?
Do they adhere to the animal welfare act?
Meet the groomer(s) don’t be frightened to ask questions, and have a good look at the salon.
At Urban Pooch we adhere to all of the above, so you know your dog is always in the safest of hands whilst in our care.
