It’s important when running your own business to take time out to do the things you love. To practise what you preach. This week Rukiya completed her first The National Nosework Association Entry trial hosted by K9 Scent & Search UK it was a hot day but she achieved her first element badge for her Interior search. Yesterday Bucky and I headed off to Beancroft for an excellent trial, he picked up a badge for his selection and the winners medal overall.

As always we have things to work on, takeaways are what it’s all about.

Sharing the passion of nosework helping others learn and helping new teams develop and grow in confidence is something I’ll never tire of.

Can you guess the breed??

Adolescence, the most trying time in our dogs lives. It is a period that all dogs go through and much the same as humans it causes conflict, uncertainity and a whole range of emotions. Their bodys are undergoing physical change while their brains are pretty much rebuilding.

A phrase shared with me recently it's nature not rebeillion. They are not being disobdient, they don't need a stronger hand, they need understanding, clear, fair and consisitent boundaries. Management to help them make good choices when they are unable to cope with it all themselves and patience (and sometimes a sense of humour) from their humans when they are finding it all too much.

This young man's family have signed up to our adolescent package and we can't wait to see things come together for him.

If you have a teenager in your house (canine that is!!) and you feel you are talking to cloth ears and a dog who appears to think the rules no longer apply to them get in touch and let us help you to reset and rebuild with them.

We had a great day out for our collaborative Area Coverage workshop with K9 Scent & Search UK on Saturday. We started early to beat the heat for the exterior training and then benefited from the cooler insides. Absolutely loved working with all the teams and seeing those aha! Lightbulb moments!

Yesterday we ran a small The National Nosework Association enhanced trial at East Anglia Transport Museum, we managed to beat the heat and keep as cool as possible. I saw some beautiful searches. If your dog is suddenly freaked out by something different appearing in their world try having a fun party with them. Class this week was helping our adolescent dogs learn that change can be good. Lots of laughs, treats and waggy tails
