Although it's not that hot here in Norfolk at the moment, it's fast approaching that time of year, so I thought I'd share some wisdom from Blue Cross about helping our dogs keep cool.
As in previous years, I will be keep an eye on the daily temperatures & may have to rearrange some walks for either earlier or later than their usual times & possibly cancel some walks on extremely warm days for the wellbeing of the dogs.

Dogs can overheat easily as they canโ€™t sweat through their skin. They rely on panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and noses to keep cool. Our advice will help you keep your dog cool in hot weather.

Much as I haven't wanted to do this, I'm going to have to increase my prices effective from the 1st of April 2023 due to the continuing rise in the cost of living.
I have kept these rises to a minimum & the new prices are listed on my website, linked below.
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all my lovely clients, we'll have been operating 2 years next month, so here's to many more years of adventuring!

Hello, I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas & New Year!
Unfortunately I won't be able to take on any new overnight clients currently as I've had a lot of bookings between now & the end of August.
For clients already on my books, please let me know as far in advance as possible so I can do my best to accommodate you.
Thankyou๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I'll be taking a week off from the 5th to the 11th of September, it's been a very busy summer so I will be putting my feet up relaxng!
Walks/sitting/visits can still be booked, but I won't be available for anything short notice for that week :)

LET ME BE โ€œNOSEYโ€
Imagine going on a long-anticipated walk, through beautiful scenery, after you have been cooped up in the same place all day, but you have been fitted with a blind fold and are being dragged along at a quick pace. I imagine that this is how dogs feel when we donโ€™t allow them time to stop and sniff the environment. Dogs largely perceive their world through scent and itโ€™s how they collect and process information and make sense of the world. Taking away an opportunity for sniffing on a walk is not in their best interests and as much as physical exercise is important, the mental stimulation that sniffing provides is equally, if not more important.
Studies have shown that allowing dogs to spend time sniffing provides so many benefits โ€“ promoting calmness, lowering stress and anxiety levels, lowering pulse rates, preventing cognitive decline and providing mental stimulation and enrichment are just some examples.
Make time for a slow โ€œsniffing walkโ€, where your dog is allowed to decide which direction to go and allowed to simply be โ€œnoseyโ€ and follow wherever their nose leads them. It may take far more time and patience as we wait for them to finish smelling that blade of grass, but the benefits are well worth it.
