Had the pleasure of grooming this little sweet heart Chloe today. She's 8 months old and this was her very 1st groom. Unfortunately she was matted badly and hidden in her coat were 3 evil ticks. But she went home matt and tick free and looking gorgeous and comfortable.
Her poor mum was advised not to get her groomed till she was a year old! Thankfully mum didn't wait that long and put her babies comfort before vanity.
No matter what breed your pup is , it is vital that from at least 8 to 12 weeks old they should be introduced to grooming. You don't need to have a hair cut, but bathing, drying, combing, brushing and nails and ears are super important. Also it gives your pup a chance to build up a trusting relationship with the groomer. Doing so also is good for their skin. With months of dirt built up under the coat the skin can't breathe and this can cause itchy and rashes.
If anyone wants any advice please contact me, don't be embarrassed, I didn't know any of this before I did my diploma in dog grooming, we learn more than just cutting hair.
