🐴☀️⛺️ SUMMER STAYAWAY CAMP SCHEDULES ⛺️ ⛱️🐴

Our legendary summer stayaway camps are back for another year, this time including an adults only camp once the kids are back at school! Think camping in the fields, marshmallows around the campfire and a huge variety of horsey activities.

These camps always fill up quickly so get booked in soon so you don’t miss out. Here’s a sneak peek of the core activities at each camp and booking is available through EC Pro:

NOTE: we’ve left the ages on the Mini and Teen camps a little bit flexible this year so those ‘in the middle’ riders can join the camp which best suits them. If you’re unsure which will be most suitable for your rider, have a chat with your instructor!

☀️ 😎 SUMMER IS BACK! 🏖️ ☀️

As everyone will be aware, temperatures will be soaring this week, and while we all take time to enjoy the sun, we’ll be taking some extra precautions to make sure our horses and ponies also stay cool, calm, collected and comfortable.

This might mean that your lessons this week look a little bit different as we take the following steps:

☀️ additional moderation of horse’s workloads, reducing daily workloads and types - this might mean you get to try a different mount to usual, we recommend you embrace the opportunity!

☀️ hacking wherever possible - the opportunity to enjoy a hack out in our beautiful countryside (and more importantly the shade!) instead of baking on the beach in our arena

☀️ slowing things down - lessons will focus on more technical skills and rider position rather than faster paced activities which are harder work for the horses, and include additional cool down breaks. If you have booked a jumping lesson, you may be contacted to discuss an alternative

☀️ additional hydration breaks and wash downs - all horses will be washed down after lessons and will have fresh, clean water available at all times

We hope we can all work together to enjoy riding in this fabulous weather, while making sure we protect the welfare of our horses and ponies 🧡💛🧡

🐴 SUMMER SHOWJUMPING LEAGUE 🐴

Don’t forget to get your entries in for next Saturday’s showjumping league!!

June’s instalment represents the mid way point through the league so there’s still time to get those points accumulating! Classes from lead rein poles on the floor all the way up to 90cm, so whether it would be your first jumping competition or you’ve been here before, there’s something for everyone. If you’re not sure if it’s for you, your instructor would be more than happy to advise!

Our boys herd enjoying a snoozy morning with a view this morning.

We love being able to provide our horses and ponies with this fabulous 24/7 turnout throughout the summer and regularly arrive on a morning to find the herds have had a whole group sleepover with their mates!

🚧🧴KEEP WESTACRES SAFE 🧴🚧

As a reminder, the nationwide outbreak of respiratory disease in horses continues. We thank all of our customers and liveries for continuing to take essential steps to help keep Westacres horses and ponies safe and protected:

1. If you attend other yards, or touch other horses, please ensure you shower (including washing hair) and change clothes before attending Westacres.

2. Please ensure you use foot dips at the gates and hand sanitiser around the yard.

3. We are temporarily limiting our events to riding school and livery customers only

To reassure our customers, these steps are precautionary only and designed to supplement our existing protections during this time of increased risk. Your lessons will continue as normal. However, please do take this threat seriously, equine flu and strangles can each be devastating to a herd.

We continue to wish all affected yards all the best and thank you for your openness and communication to help keep everyone safe. The only way we’ll beat these things is to work together as an equine community!
