A little break from the videos.. 🏆
I wasn’t sure whether I was going to share this, or whether it was all legitimate after I received an email yesterday saying Joy Grooms had won Best Pet Grooming in Newbury for 2026. It’s such a lovely feeling to be recognised, especially doing something I LOVE SO MUCH!

That said, I cannot share this without recognising that there are so so many incredibly talented groomers in Newbury, many of whom I really admire, and some I’m lucky enough to now call friends. So many of them are so deserving of this and I definitely do not consider myself the best, although I might be up there for being the best at being emotionally attached to everyone’s dogs 🥲😂

I’m not sure if I was nominated or selected but I am very grateful to every single one of my clients for trusting me with your dogs and cats and for supporting my little business. You make my days so special and it rarely feels like work, which is such a wonderful thing to be able to say.

I’ll always keep striving to be the very best I can for your pets, to keep learning, improving, and giving them the calmest, kindest care possible. Thank you so much for being part of Joy Grooms, nearly 3 years in!!!🩷

🐾 A Little Update from Me 🐾

Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my wonderful clients for keeping me so busy, I have never been busier!!! Your continued support means the world to me! ❤️

With my daughter starting school in September (ahhhhhhh 🥺🥺) I’ll be adjusting my working hours to fit around the school day. From September, my grooming appointments will finish at 15:00 Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays) on a Tuesday each week, I will still be able to offer appointments that finish later than 3:00pm, but these will be very limited and will be reserved for clients who genuinely need a later collection time. As you can imagine, these appointments are likely to be booked very quickly.

I’m putting the feeler out of introducing an 8:00am start on Thursdays, so if this a good time for you please let me know!

Many of my regular clients have already booked their appointments for the year, so I have very limited availability remaining. My diary is open for bookings right through to December, so if you’d like to secure your preferred appointments, please get in touch as soon as possible. I highly recommend booking several appointments in advance to avoid disappointment. If I said at collection I will book some in for you please could you give me a nudge and I’ll send over dates ☺️

Going forward, I’ll only be able to groom dogs that are kept on a regular grooming schedule. Dogs that are left too long between appointments require considerably more time and work, and with my reduced hours, I simply won’t have the capacity to accommodate irregular bookings.

🚨 Urgent Help Needed 🚨

We are urgently looking for a glazier or window company who may be able to help us.

Our cat pens are currently reaching temperatures in excess of 40°C, making them unsafe for the cats. For their welfare and safety, we have had to temporarily rehouse them elsewhere.

We already have the glass required to be fitted into the five cat pens, which is needed to make the air conditioning system effective. We are desperately seeking someone who could either carry out the installation free or come out and provide us with a quote as soon as possible.

If you are a glazier, window company, or know someone who may be able to help, please get in touch or tag them in the comments.

☀️ Heatwave Update ☀️🐶

With temperatures forecast to reach 35°C this week, I’ve made the difficult decision to rearrange some appointments to keep your dogs safe.

Although I have an air conditioning unit in the salon, unfortunately it still isn’t enough to keep the grooming environment at a safe and comfortable temperature during extreme heat with hot dryers.

It’s also not just about the salon, it’s the journey too. Cars heat up quickly, pavements become hot, and travelling in these temperatures can put dogs at risk of overheating. For many dogs, the safest place to be during the hottest part of the day is at home.

I’ll be contacting everyone with appointments this week to rearrange them to earlier morning slots where possible, or to move them to a cooler day.

✂️ Haircuts will be prioritised, as these are the dogs who need relief from their coats the most.
🛁 Bath & blow-dry appointments will unfortunately be postponed until the weather cools down.

I know this may be inconvenient, and I really appreciate your patience and understanding. Your dog’s welfare will always come before anything else, and I’d much rather rearrange an appointment than put any dog at unnecessary risk.
