JASMINE🌸🐾🩷

We had the pleasure of welcoming little Jasmine, aka Jazzy, to Phoenix Vets for her pre-registration health check ahead of her 2nd vaccination in a few weeks' time and she was an absolute star! 🌟

Vaccinations are a vital part of giving puppies the best start in life, helping to protect them from serious infectious diseases while they grow, learn, and explore the world around them.

Not only is it important to vaccinate but to also ensure puppies are well socialised! Our nurses can't wait to start running socialisation clinics for dogs of all ages, helping them build confidence, enjoy positive experiences at the practice, and get to know our veterinary team in a relaxed environment.

🚑🩺Our Out of Hours Care 🚑🩺

When your pet needs urgent care outside of our normal opening hours, it can be a stressful time. That’s why at Phoenix Vets we’re proud to provide our own dedicated out-of-hours service 🚑☎️🩺🐾

We understand that out-of-hours care can sometimes leave owners worried whether that’s about costs, deciding if something is truly urgent, or even the thought of waking the vet in the middle of the night.

That’s why we’ve partnered with VidiVet, which all registered Phoenix Vets clients can access completely FREE ♥️

VidiVet is a handy app that gives you unlimited access to qualified veterinary advice 24/7. Including evenings, weekends, and when the practice is closed.

Not only does this help owners get quick reassurance and guidance when they need it, but it also helps protect our vets’ essential rest time after long working days, ensuring they are refreshed and ready to provide the very best care for true emergencies and the patients they see the following day.

And when an emergency really does need hands-on veterinary treatment, our team is still here to provide the urgent care your pet needs.

Whether you need guidance late at night, over the weekend, or during a bank holiday, we’re here to help make sure your pets receive the care they need, when they need it most 🐶🐱

✈️ Travelling abroad with your pet this summer? 🐾

Since the UK left the EU, pets now need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) to travel to most EU countries and Northern Ireland.

An AHC is an official document completed by an authorised vet that confirms your pet:
🐶 Is microchipped
💉 Has a valid rabies vaccination
📋 Meets the legal requirements for travel
⚠️ Important rabies vaccine information:
• If your pet is having their very first rabies vaccine, they cannot travel until at least 21 days afterwards
• If it is a booster vaccination given while already in date, there is no waiting period and they can travel straight away
Animal Health Certificates must usually be completed within 10 days of travel, so it’s important to plan ahead — especially during busy holiday periods!

At Phoenix Vet Practice we are pleased to offer:
✨ £110 for the first pet
✨ £50 for additional pets travelling to the same destination

We can also advise on — and provide — any required anti-parasitic treatments needed for your destination.
Whether you’re planning a beach holiday, road trip or European adventure, we’re here to help make travelling with your pets as stress-free as possible 🧳🐾

📞 Call us to book your Animal Health Certificate appointment on 01270 262624

May is flashing before our eyes, and we couldn’t let it pass without recognising the incredible role Veterinary Nurses play within the veterinary industry during Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 💙🐾

Veterinary Nurses are at the heart of patient care every single day. From comforting nervous pets and supporting worried owners, to calculating drug doses and monitoring anaesthetics, assisting in surgery, running clinics, caring for hospitalised patients plus lab/diagnostic work and keeping the whole practice running smoothly, their role is so much more than many people realise. And in our case… also being handy with a screwdriver, painting walls, building flat-pack furniture and making the best cups of tea 🤣☕🔨

They are compassionate, skilled, hardworking and endlessly dedicated to the animals in their care. They are often the reassuring voice and gentle cuddle our patients need most (and sometimes our vets too! 🫶🐶🐱). It’s really important to us the understanding just how valuable Veterinary Nurses are within practice and how much they contribute to the care of your pets every single day.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful nursing team here at Phoenix Vets.

WE’RE OPEN! (And boiling… 🌞🎉)

In true Friends style, we’ve had to PIVOT! But Phoenix Vets is finally here and ready to offer the service we’ve wanted to provide for so long - just not quite in the way we expected! While we continue firefighting a few ongoing issues behind the scenes that have caused frustrating delays, our fantastic builders have been working tirelessly to get us up and running. Have you seen our beautiful new signage out front yet?! 👀

For now, we have 3 lovely portacabins set up on our huge car park that are clean, tidy, air-conditioned and ready to welcome you. We now have:
🐾 A reception area
🐾 A consult room
🐾 A prep/theatre space

This means we can now see you for:
✔ Routine appointments
✔ Vaccinations & sign up to our Phoenix Friends Plans
✔ Illness checks
✔ Routine and minor surgeries
✔ Our out-of-hours service will also now run from here, and it’ll be one of our lovely team Keelin, Sarah, Cathy or Steve looking after you.

For anything more complex, we may need to postpone treatment or refer you to another veterinary centre, but for your everyday veterinary care we are finally here and ready to help. ❤️

We’re partnered with VidiVet, giving our registered clients FREE 24/7 veterinary advice through the VidiVet app. Whether you have a burning question in the middle of the night or you’re unsure if your pet needs an appointment, the app is there to help guide you.

During out-of-hours periods, we’d encourage clients to use VidiVet for advice or triage unless it’s a real-time emergency requiring immediate attention. To register please follow this link https://go.vidivet.com/phoenix-vets

Our phone lines are live on 01270 262624
Feel free to pop down and say hello if there's anything you want to discuss with our lovely team. We are open weekdays 8.30 - 6:30pm and Saturdays 8.30am - 12:30pm.

Thank you all so much for your patience, support and kindness while we’ve been navigating the chaos behind the scenes. We genuinely can’t wait to finally welcome you through our doors… even if they are portacabin doors for now! 🏡🐶🐱 Have a lovely bank holiday and remember to keep your pets cool!!!

Today is World Bee Day 🐝🌼
As we build Phoenix Vet Practice, we want to create not only a space that’s welcoming for pets and people, but one that’s kinder to wildlife and the environment too 💜
Bees and other pollinators play such an important role in our ecosystem, so becoming a bee-friendly practice is something we’re really passionate about.
We’ve already started planting up flower beds around the practice, including a dedicated wildflower area to help provide food and shelter for bees and other pollinators 🌸🌿
It may seem like a small thing, but small changes add up — and we’re excited to keep finding ways to make Phoenix as sustainable and wildlife-friendly as possible as we continue to grow 🐝✨
If you’ve planted anything bee-friendly in your garden recently, we’d love to see photos in the comments! ⬇️

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week 💜

Working in the veterinary profession can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally challenging at times. Behind every appointment, emergency, difficult decision and late-night worry is a team of real people who care deeply about animals and the people who love them.

That’s one of the reasons movements like NOMV and Vetlife are so important — helping to remind people in the profession that they are never alone.

But this week isn’t just about vets and nurses. Mental health matters for everyone, and we know that pets often play a huge role in helping us through difficult days. A quiet cuddle, a walk, a waggy tail or just having them nearby can make more difference than they’ll ever know 🐾

As we build Phoenix, we want to create not only a caring environment for pets, but also a supportive, compassionate culture for our team and clients too. Sarah and Jess spent 2 days last week completing the Mental Health First Aider qualification to ensure we are looking after the team.

So this week, and always, please remember to be kind to yourselves and to each other 💜

It’s Pet Appreciation Week 🐾💜
So today we want to hear all about the pets that make your life better every single day…
Whether they make you laugh, keep you company, steal your side of the bed, greet you like a celebrity every time you come home, or somehow just know when you’ve had a bad day — pets really are family 🐶🐱🐰
Tell us why you appreciate your pet in the comments below ⬇️
(Photos are very much encouraged… we definitely won’t get distracted looking at them all 👀)
We can’t wait to meet all of your wonderful pets properly when Phoenix opens its doors 🩺✨
