🚨 IMPORTANT NOTICE: CANINE PARVOVIRUS 🚨
I've seen reports of increased cases of parvovirus in the area and I want to make my lovely clients aware of the signs and how we can help protect our fur babies 🐾
🦠 WHAT IS PARVOVIRUS?
Canine parvovirus (parvo) is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus. It can affect dogs of any age, but puppies and unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated dogs are particularly vulnerable.
🚩 SYMPTOMS TO LOOK OUT FOR:
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Diarrhoea, sometimes containing blood
🐾 Unusual tiredness or extreme lethargy
🐾 Loss of appetite or refusing food
🐾 Fever
🐾 Abdominal pain or discomfort
🐾 Weakness and dehydration
⚠️ If your dog is showing any of these symptoms, contact your vet immediately. Parvo can progress rapidly, so prompt veterinary attention is essential. Please phone ahead before visiting so your vet can take the necessary precautions to protect other animals.
✂️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GROOMING
The health and wellbeing of every dog in my care is a priority. I want to keep everybody safe, and that means taking the right precautions.
❌ If your dog is unwell or showing any of the symptoms listed above, please do NOT bring them to their grooming appointment. Contact your vet first and let me know so we can rearrange their appointment when it's safe to do so.
❌ If your dog has been in contact with a dog suspected or confirmed to have parvovirus, please let me know before attending your appointment. We can discuss the appropriate precautions and whether the appointment needs to be postponed.
🧼 WHY IS AWARENESS SO IMPORTANT?
Parvovirus spreads through infected faeces and contaminated environments, including surfaces and objects. It can survive in the environment for a long time and is particularly difficult to eliminate without appropriate disinfection.
Taking precautions, being mindful of symptoms and keeping vaccinations up to date where possible can all help reduce the risk of infection.
❤️ PLEASE REMEMBER: YOUR DOG'S HEALTH ALWAYS COMES FIRST.
A grooming appointment can wait. Your dog's health, comfort and safety must come first, and protecting the wider canine community is something we all have a part to play in.
🙏 When walking your dogs try to avoid letting them off lead. Make sure they don't ingest anything and where possible only exercise dogs in confirmed safe areas. And again if you suspect for any reason your dog may have contracted parvo please seek vet attention immediately
