Why did we cancel our attendance? ☀️

Rabbits rarely tolerate 20+ degree heat. So to attend and have the bunnies sitting from 8.30-4.30 is not something I’d be happy with. Even with fans, tiles and frozen bottles. The journey in the car at 9.30 this morning showed us just how hot it got so quickly.

None of my rabbits want to be handled in this heat, let alone the preparation, the travelling and being in front of hundreds of people.

We also need to keep an eye on our young stock and pregnant does.

Simply put - the welfare of our rabbits in this heat comes first over winning a certificate or rosette any day of the week 👏🏻

How can you help your rabbits?

✅ Make sure they’re in the shade if outside.
✅ Readily available water all day, everyday.
✅ Frozen water bottles
✅ Ceramic Tiles
✅ Fans

Look what snuck into the rabbitry 🖤

These two does will help me get a firm start in my Black and Tan project.

We also welcomed a very kind and very knowledgeable couple of visitors today. They combed right through my rabbitry, providing information to gaps in my knowledge especially where genetics are concerned.

It’s was very much welcomed after I felt that I’ve lost sight of my plan for a while and has now firmly set me on the right track with otters, oranges and tans.

We also welcome our first fawn to the stud as well after what we assumed was a lynx turned out to be a fawn after all. I’m so chuffed and very happy with this discovery 💜🧡

Onwards and upwards to the future and thank you to the Jagger family ❤️

Another successful day out. This time at Thornton-Le-Dale show ☀️

Albert came 1st out of 5 mini Rex. A bit of a bigger class than last week. In fact he managed to beat a Castor which is basically unheard of.

Moose came 3rd behind the castor. It’s an interesting day with interesting results.

I even took Kitt, the Black and Tan mini Rex Buck I’ve just brought in. Although he didn’t place, I managed to chase down the judge for the comments - since these are not BRC shows and comments aren’t recorded.

Overall they got some good comments but we know where we now stand on all 3 bucks. Just need to show an otter buck now and we should be well on our way to starting to produce better quality stock in oranges, otters and tans.

Sadly both my otter boys are not happy at shows so I wouldn’t subject them to being stressed all day.

Meanwhile, the orange boys coped in front of hundreds of people yet again 🧡

The babies all had some grass time today. Another milestone ✅

All of them are 5 weeks this week.

I still have 3 BEW Mini Plush does left. In fact I’m questioning whether to keep going with the plush - someone really needs to convince me other than the cute factor.

The Mini Rex litters I still haven’t decided on. I have a few reserved but all the boys are up for discussion to the right homes. It’s very rare that I wait this long to see who I’m going to keep but also I’ve seen distinct changes in coats, type and temperament anywhere up to 20 weeks.

But feel free to chat to me. I do have adults and definitely babies looking for new grass 🌾
