Let’s talk SYNERGY 🌟

Since I started judging for The National Nosework Association in 2023, I’ve awarded 16 Synergies across 77 trials!

Apparently I’m pretty stingy with them 🤣 But I can still remember every single search that made me reach for one 🌟

The NNA describes a Synergy award as recognising “teamwork and fluidity of the search”, reserved for those moments that blow the judge away. For me, Synergy is that rare moment when dog and handler just become one team; completely connected, completely in sync, and you know you’re watching something special. ✨

SCOTLAND HAS TWO MORE NNA EXCELLENT TEAMS! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Scotland now has its 2nd AND 3rd dogs competing at The National Nosework Association Excellent level and they’re both Labs!

So join us in giving a HUGE congratulations to…

🏆 Kirsty & Myrtle 🖤 who flew the Scottish flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 down south, picking up their final Enhanced badge to stage up, before going straight into their first ever Excellent trial and taking Reserve! 🔥

🏆 Kirsty & Revel 🤎 who won their final Enhanced trial on home turf in Inverness, securing their last badge to stage-up to Excellent! Kirsty then topped off an already brilliant day by being signed off as Scotland’s second-ever NNA Enhanced-level judge. 🙌

With a few more K9 TNT teams now just one badge away from Excellent, Scotland’s first ever NNA Excellent trial is getting closer… and we cannot WAIT! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🔥

A shout-out to both Kirstys and their own businesses too, Scottish scentwork is growing, and we love to see it.

LOOKING TO GET STARTED IN SCENTWORK? 👀

It’s probably time for a little K9 Track & Train update… because quite a lot has changed around here! 🔥

Firstly, if you currently have a message sitting unanswered in the K9 TNT inbox, I am sorry.

Between my professional biosecurity detection work, running Scotland Lost Dog Tracking Network, operational lost dog tracking deployments, teaching, NNA judging and trialling my own dogs, admin has very much been the thing that’s lost out lately!

And with K9 TNT evolving quite a bit too, I thought it was time for an update on what we’re doing and how you can train with us.

For now, I’m not running regular Scentwork Intro courses, and spaces for new regular clients will remain limited; although, as always, things can change!

I’m incredibly lucky to have a brilliant K9 TNT community, some have been with me for over FIVE YEARS 🥹🧡 They’re very much the K9 TNT family, and protecting the time and spaces I have for them will always come first.

But new faces are absolutely still welcome!

K9 TNT is simply evolving, with my available diary now focused much more on:

🔥 Guest instructing around the country
🔥 Visiting trainers & specialist instructors
🔥 Trials, events & one-off training opportunities
🔥 Scentwork 1-2-1s when availability allows

We rarely offer puppy 121s these days (outside of scentwork), but when a long-term client welcomes a new pup… how could we resist? 🧡

Meet Chase! 🐾

Today’s lesson: an emergency stop and one of the most important skills you can teach any puppy: loving to bring things back to you.

💡 If your puppy proudly brings you a “treasure”, don’t immediately grab it (unless it’s dangerous!). Make coming back the best part of the game, then teach a swap or drop separately.
