Well... today's 15-mile training walk didn’t exactly go to plan 🙃

The day started off brilliantly — I took the boys out for a wee 1.8-mile wander (we’ll call it a warm-up 😅). The harr was in, making it perfect walking weather for the pups and a wee hint it might heat up later. Spoiler alert: it definitely did.

Once the boys were fed and happily snoozing, I got ready for the main event — even rocked my Beagle Welfare tee 👕. But 1.5 miles into my walk in 22°C heat, I realized the t-shirt was a layer too many and my neck was roasting. Thankfully, Andrew’s trusty rucksack had my back (literally) with sunscreen and a snood! One layer off, neck protected, and I was feeling fab.

I was powering through, still smiling when I reached Bernie Loch. Then… disaster! I said a cheerful “good morning” to a gent and his wee girl, caught my foot on a root, and next thing I know — whoosh — glasses airborne, nose nearly kissed the ground, hands and knee took the hit. 😬

Thankfully, no blood, no major pain, just a bruised ego and a skint knee. After assuring the poor gent I wasn’t mortally wounded, I hobbled to a nearby bench, dug into the rucksack (seriously, this thing’s a lifesaver), cleaned up with some wipes, and off I went again.

Then about 10 minutes later… uh-oh 😟 a weird lump on my knee started rubbing against my trousers. Yep — a lovely big swelling had appeared. No ice pack in the bag (rookie mistake), so I made the sensible call and rang my Knight in Shining Armour 🛡️ to whisk me home to the comfort of a bag of frozen garden peas. 🟢

Despite the drama, I still clocked over 4 miles — nearly 6 in total for the morning! 🏃‍♀️

I’ll be taking a few days off for some R&R (Rest & Rogue Knee) but I’ll be back out there soon. In the meantime, I might just get a couple of Weagles made! 🐾

Not sharing my JustGiving page just yet — I want to complete the full 15 miles first. But stay tuned… I’ll get there 💪

🎨 First Attempt at Tartan Fimo! 🐾👣

So… I gave tartan Fimo a go – and let’s just say, it might also be my last attempt 😆🤣 Bit more practice needed (a lot more, actually!).

BUT – if nothing else, the wee weagles might end up rocking some "unique" tartan bandanas soon… all in support of my Kiltwalk fundraiser for Beagle Welfare! 🐶❤️

Every little helps – even a wobbly bit of handmade tartan 😉

Thanks for the love and laughs as always! 💙

Early birds, beach walks & smokie stops 🐾☀️🚶‍♀️

Started the day beating the heat with a early morning walk with the boys 🐶💨 – paws up if you’re loving this sunshine but can’t hack the heat!

Then it was off on a little trip down memory lane with my lovely partner-in-crime Dawn 💕. We headed to the beautiful coastal hamlet of Easthaven, where I lived as a teen. Back then I thought it was the middle of nowhere (3 miles on a bike to school felt like a journey of epic proportions 🚲😅)… but today? Absolute paradise.

We tackled the Easthaven to Arbroath trail – just over 5 miles of stunning seaside views, glorious sunshine, and plenty of laughs (and sweat) along the way 😅☀️. Highly recommend the new path from Dundee to Arbroath – walkers, runners, cyclists, it's a treat!

Stopped off for a cold drink + tasty lunch at The Old Boatyard (10/10, would eat again 🍽️🥂), picked up some Arbroath Smokies for tea 🐟, and even bumped into Blu the beagle, who looked just as warm as we felt.

Finished the day with a refreshing paddle back at Easthaven 🌊 (bliss for the toes 👣). Thanks for the fab company, Dawn – let’s not leave it so long next time!

Kiltwalk training is officially under way – next challenge: 15 miles this Sunday 😬💪. Here’s hoping it cools down a bit before August.
I also plan to share my just giving page and hopefully a kilt wearing weagle over the weekend though the fimo is melting as much as I am at the moment not making it easy.

Training Update 🥾🐾

This week’s training walks have gone really well! I’ve been doing daily shorter walks—some with Eddie and Buddy, and others solo for a faster pace while listening to my audiobook. Just finished You, Again by Natalie Cooper. It’s a light, soppy read but surprisingly enjoyable—and a freebie on Audible too!

I was working yesterday, so today was my longer walk. I set out aiming for 10 miles and smashed it with 10.1 miles in just over 3 hours and 15 minutes 🚶‍♀️💪 It was an absolutely beautiful morning for it.

The productivity didn’t stop there—got the spare room and our bedroom tidied, and did a skip run with all the “just in case” stuff I’d stashed away (you know how it is 😅).

Wrapped up the day with a peaceful wee walk in the woods with Buddy 🌲🐶

Now I’ve got a hot bath running and my fingers crossed I should sleep well tonight! 🛁😴

Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately, I've just had a few things going on at the moment.
I've just needed to take a step back from creating weagles and concentrate on me, and I’m not sure if it’s a midlife crisis or just a moment of madness… but I’ve signed up for the Dundee Kiltwalk — 20 miles from St Andrews to Dundee on Sunday 17th August (yes, the day after my 54th birthday 🎉).

Right now, I’m focusing on building up my fitness and increasing my mileage each week. I’ve been doing daily shorter walks, often joined by my trusty (and sniffy) companions — Buddy (Sir Sniffalot) and Eddie (Master P*e Aplenty). They’re helping me prepare for the challenge of being stuck behind slower walkers
I’ve chosen to support Beagle Welfare as my charity, which feels especially fitting given my two furry trainingmates. 🐶🐾

Nearer the time, I’ll be sharing my JustGiving page and asking if you’d consider sponsoring me ( might be a weagle or 2 up.for grabs too )— but for now, I just wanted to put it out there. Sharing this makes me feel accountable, and hopefully a little more motivated on those days when the sofa looks more appealing than my trainers.

Thanks for reading — and stay tuned for training updates and beagle mischief!

Also we are waiting on a new oven so at the moment I'm not happy about sending the weagles to an oven party when the heat might prove too much for them, oh and talking about heat fimo (the clay I use to make the weagles doesn't do well when the temperature outside is warmer than normal)

Anyone have a whippet that they would like to share a photo of with Nicola Sweet Artist to help with her pop art project (she will glad its not a beagle shes asking for of she would be inundated lol)
I was at a class with Nicola on Friday and did a pop art portrait of Eddie, picture in comments 😀

Excited to get started on my Pop Art Whippet after being asked to take part in this fab Art Project in Falkirk. If anyone has any Whippet photos they would like me to use, post them in the comments. 🥰 X
