Is your dog slowing down this autumn and winter? 🐶🍂
Colder weather can make joint pain and stiffness worse — especially for older dogs or those with arthritis. If your pup seems less keen on walks, struggles to get up, or is showing signs of limping, it could be more than just the chill in the air.

Common signs of joint discomfort include:
🐾 Limping or stiffness (especially after resting)
🐾 Reluctance to jump, climb stairs, or go for walks
🐾 Sleeping more or becoming less playful

We have had this lovely girl brought into us this afternoon. She was found near St Ambrose school. She is chipped but unfortunately the details are not up to date. She is safe and comfortable here at the practice. She has had green dye put in her eye so we can check for ulcers.

📣 CMA Report on Vet Pricing – What It Means for You

This morning, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published its report following an investigation into pricing and transparency within the veterinary sector.

While there may be some headlines or concerns, we want to reassure you that we’ve already implemented many of the key recommendations the CMA has advised:

✅ We’ve had our prices clearly listed on our website since the start of the year
✅ We always provide estimates for procedures and tests in advance
✅ We already offer written prescriptions on request, and will be capping our prescription fee at £16, in line with the CMA’s guidance
✅ We're happy to support clients choosing where to get medications — and are always here to explain the pros and cons of different options

As always, our focus remains on honest, transparent care that puts your pet’s wellbeing first 🐾

We’ve had a black and white male cat approximately 6-8 months old brought in this morning after being hit by a car. Sadly, he has had to be put to sleep. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a chip so we can’t get hold of the owners. If you have any information or think this cat may be yours, please get in touch on 0161 794 4100.

What a team we have!

At 5pm tonight, we had to go into emergency surgery for a dog with a foreign body. There wasn’t a 2nd thought for the team knowing that they would be working way past closing time. We just wanted to do what we could to get the best outcome.

They are still here now at 9pm whilst the patient is recovering from successful surgery.

I want to thank each and everyone who played their part and say how proud how I am to manage such a great team!
