Last week, we hosted the Save a Kitten, Learn a Skill workshop in Paros — and it was a great success!

Led by amazing veterinary nurse Nastassja Renard of Kitties in Paris, the session gave hands-on guidance to both locals and tourists, all united by a shared love for animals and a desire to help.

Held at the PAWS - Paros Animal Welfare Society shelter, the free workshop covered everything from safe handling and bottle-feeding to emergency response and keeping newborn kittens warm and healthy — vital skills during kitten season, when so many orphans are found across the island.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, and to Nastassja for sharing her knowledge and passion 💚 We’re so proud to support the growing community of kitten carers on Paros.

Supporting Greece’s working equines since 1993 🐴

More than 30 years ago—back when we were known as the Greek Animal Welfare Fund (GAWF)—a single visit to the islands of Chalki and Symi sparked a movement that would go on to change thousands of lives. UK vet Janet Eley saw first-hand the urgent need for equine care in remote communities—and took action.

A year later, she returned with a small but passionate UK team, and the first seeds of our Equine Care Programme were planted.

Fast forward to today, and what began with just a few individuals is now a national network led by Greek vets, farriers and dental techs—bringing expert care to donkeys, mules, and horses across the country.

This month, our CEO Natasha visited the Greek islands of Paros & Antiparos to see the incredible impact of our Community Cat Care programme—supported by Battersea.

Since the project began in March 2023, 4,595 cats have been neutered as part of our mission to tackle the severe stray cat overpopulation crisis. 🐱

From trapping sessions and team meetups to mapping efforts and long days in the field, the trip highlighted the heart and hard work behind this mass neutering effort.

A big shout-out to our partners: Cats of Antiparos, Paroscat, PAWS - Paros Animal Welfare Society, Φιλοζωοι Εθελοντες Παρου (Veterinary Clinic), and Veterinary Center of PAROS (Veterinary Clinic) Without their tireless dedication, these numbers wouldn’t have been possible. 💙
