Today is World Spay Day. Each year World Spay Day draws attention to the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
So far this year we have seen far too many dogs come through our doors who have been used for breeding including two Dachshunds, Nelly and Molly. Both were still producing milk when they were found, and had clearly been neglected. Molly, in particular, was severely underweight and had patches of hair loss.
We even saw four Dachshund pups, including Circle and Sphere, abandoned in a cardboard box. Even these desirable breeds are being abandoned at a rate we have never seen before.
When dogs are not neutered, we see an increase in unwanted and unsold litters, like Circle and Sphere, and in the mothers we see in increase in medical issues such as mastitis, pyometra and phantom pregnancies. Spaying your dog can eliminate most of these issues.
Circle and Sphere have now been rehomed, and will be spayed when they are old enough. Molly has also found a new home, has now been spayed, and does happy squiggles on a sofa of her own now she doesn’t have any pups to care for. Nelly is still up for adoption, and is booked in for her spay, so she can no longer be exploited for breeding.

UPDATE: We have found a foster for Circle and Sphere
🐶 FOSTER NEEDED FOR THE GEO-PUPS🐶
Circle and Sphere, two female wire haired dachshund pups, were dumped in a cardboard box outside a shop in Highgate. Circle is approximately 12-16 weeks, and Sphere about 10 months. They are very sweet together, and although at first a little shy, very quickly come out of their shells and are little bundles of puppy joy. They take comfort from each other, so we would ideally like them to be fostered together.
They will need:
🐾 An owner who is able to drive them to vet appointments
🐾 An adult only home or with children of 12+
🐾 A home with direct access to a garden, as they are not yet toilet trained or fully vaccinated.
🐾 A carer who is around for most of the day.
🐾 A home where they are the only dogs, or with a patient male who is fully vaccinated and neutered.
🐾 No cats please.
🐾 Someone who has owned dogs before, and is prepared for two bouncy pups!

2024 was a big year for us at All Dogs Matter.
We celebrated 15 years of ADM and realised that charities like us are more needed than ever as we faced unprecedented demand from council pounds and members of the public who asked for our help to rehome their dogs.
We rescued, rehomed and reunited 369 dogs this year, and will continue to work to help as many as we can. Those adoptions included our very special tri-pawd, Grady, who was officially adopted after 18 months in our care, and Alan Carr met and fell in love with Rita, who he adopted in September.
We had a fab year of fundraising events including our Valentine’s Day Dog Walk, Hampstead Pop Up Charity Shop, The Great Hampstead Bark Off, Victoria Bark, Howloween and Jingle Paws Carol Concert. Your generosity at these events allow us to continue our lifesaving work.
We partnered with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to launch the first ever premier league supporters club for dog owners, and our dogs looking for homes have been featured on the big screen at Hotspur Stadium before each home game!
A huge thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers, foster carers, adopters, partners and friends who have allowed us to continue our vital work helping dogs in need.

🐶❤GOOD NEWS FOR GRADY ❤🐶
Sweet Grady, a three legged Bulldog, was found wandering the streets alone in March 2023. We don’t know how or why he lost his leg - but it didn’t hold this sweet boy back! We took him in from the council pound and tried to find him a home.
This proved difficult, because although Grady can move around quite comfortably at the moment, his remaining back leg was showing signs of arthritis. This meant that whoever took Grady on would need to be prepared for the financial implications of long term
medication and potential complications. No one came forward to adopt him.
One of our trustees, Jason, and his wife Lisa, offered to foster Grady while he was looking for a home. That was back in September 2023. No one suitable applied for Grady, but the longer he stayed with Jason and Lisa, the more they fell in love. He became part
of their family, and we are delighted to announce that this week, it is official! Grady has been adopted by Jason and Lisa, and has finally found his forever home. 💖
Congratulations Grady! 🐶
