Sometimes all it takes is a few wonderful neighbors coming together to completely change the lives of stray cats on their street!
We were recently contacted by a lovely bunch of neighbors who noticed a small cat colony brewing on their road. Originally, there were 7 cats: Mum, Dad, two youngsters, and three older kittens. Just days ago, three of the older kittens found new homes, but the rest still needed help.
What started as a rescue effort brought together neighbors Jess, Anthony, and Jasmine, who, before all of this, had actually never spoken to each other! They were also joined by Antonio, an Amazon delivery driver who did not even live in the area but got roped into helping while on his delivery route. 🚚❤️
The neighbors set up a humane trap and successfully trapped the cats. But right when everybody was ready to go, chaos struck! One of the spicy little kittens escaped during the transfer to a carrier and flew around inside a car like a flying squirrel. She chomped down on hands, earning a rescuer a tetanus jab and antibiotics (official cat rescuer badge unlocked, haha! 🩹😅), and jammed herself deep under the steering wheel. After trying to dismantle the car, they had to call in the London Fire Brigade! 🚒🔥 It took three firefighters to safely dislodge the determined little kitty into her bag.
In the end, all of the cats were safely rescued and are now with our amazing Linda to decompress and get the care they need.
We were asked to step in and help, but honestly, this incredible group of neighbors did all the hard work. They fed them, trapped them, and transported them. We feel so very lucky to have worked alongside such dedicated people and privileged to be able to help bring this story to a happy ending. Thank you to Jess, Anthony, Jasmine, Antonio, and the London Fire Brigade for going above and beyond! 💖🐾
