Well that's it over. 2 days organising the goodies, half a day setting up the shop, 2 and a half days at the shop and probably all day tomorrow putting all the remaining goodies into storage (Margaret Hill's spare bedroom).
Was it a success? If measured by footfall - yes it was. If measured by greyhound cuddles - yes it was. If measured by funds raised, yes it definitely was!
Firstly thanks to Margaret and Graham Hill and Catherine Coutas for organising the event, Richard Hopkins for spending a couple of days at the shop, Dee, Chris, Pam and Moira for giving up their time and penultimately Rhys, Chloe and Chrissy for being Meeters and Greeters!
Lastly a big thanks the Nick for his warm welcome at the Station House Cookery School and the people of and the visitors to the town of Kirkcudbright for being so generous.

Oops, nearly forgot. ---------- £1,483 raised.

Another record day at the DCGR Pop Up Shop in Kirkcudbright today! This is the highest total for a second day at any of our previous Pop Up Shops ever! It was helped today by the weather and by the Kirkcudbright Gala Parade and we really, really would like to thank the Kirkcudbright folk and holidaymakers for popping in to say hello to Rhys, Chloe and Chrissy and either spending a £1 or 2 on our Tombola or purchasing something from the shop itself.
We are indebted to Nick, the proprietor of the Cookery School who is DEFINITELY a convert to the greys as you can see by the picture and for donating 2 x Gift Vouchers for our raffle at the Annual Fun Greyhound Show.
One day left! Although advertisedwe are open from 10 till 4, we will start packing up about 2pm.

Well!! We think we have broken the record for the first days takings at any of the Pop Up Shops we have organised. Yesterday was FANTASTIC with only elbow room in the shop on occasions. The Tombola was nearly finished in only one day, the amount of purchases amazing and donations in the charity tin fantastic. Not only were the humans very busy, but Rhys, Chloe and Chrissy were undoubtedly the stars. We are not going tell you what we made in case we put the kybosh on the next 2 days but will let everyone know on Sunday when we finish. Don't despair! We still have LOADS of goodies on sale and the Tombola has been replenished. If you are thinking of coming along this afternoon, please remember the Parade is on so some of the town centre roads will be closed.

More good news on the Fundraising front! The charity tin within Hallmark Cards was uplifted today at Gretna Gateway and Rhys Hill had to go along to thank the staff personally. Over the last 17/18 years or so, the staff of Hallmark Cards as well as their customers have been EXTREMELY generous to our small charity and this time the tin contained just over £30. If you think about it, the majority of the cash in the tin contained 1p, 2p and 5p pieces so loads of people have put their spare change into the tin.
Massive thank you from DCGR

Our wonderful supporter Emma Maxwell from Raw Meats and Treats/Kirkgunzeon Canines took a stall at the Galloway Country Fair last weekend and took a selection of Margaret Hill's Hand Made Dog Beds along to sell. Emma has just dropped of the Charity bucket containing the bed cash and other donations and it contained a marvellous £188. Wow - well done Emma and thank you.
Remember and visit Emma's shop in the Freedom Field if you are nearby - she has a tremendous selection and variety of natural foods and treats. Check out her new logo!

The shop will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this week from 10am till 4pm and will have LOADS of brand new goodies along with really good quality donations courtesy of our many generous supporters. This is not going to be a Charity Shop it's going to be a Charity Boutique!! All cash raised goes towards the homeless greys in our care.

Honestly, it's well worth a visit!!

What an excellent day at Dalbeattie Civic Daze yesterday in Colliston Park. Graham and Margaret began setting up about 9.30 in some drizzle and gusty winds but by the afternoon, it was really sunny which made footfall to the event extremely high. Nothing really happens until the parade comes into the park about 1.30 as you can see from 2 of the pictures which are before and after. Margaret as usual had a brilliant display of donated goods and raised nearly £140 at the event. We even had our donated Christmas Cards on sale which caused some laughter but people still bought them! Thanks to Richard with Chrissy for staying a few hours and chatting to visitors to our stall and to Dorothy with her 2,000th adopted greyhound Carlos who also stopped by to say hello. Special mention to the family from Newcastle who adopted Sky from us a few months ago and were on holiday in the area.
Pictures show Margaret with the DCGR stall, before and after, Richard with Chrissy and Rhys, Dorothy with Carlos, Rhys and Chrissy and a couple of pictures showing Rhys using anything available as a pillow.
If the lady that bought an item from us and didn't manage to pick it up before we left at 5.30 gets in contact with us, we can easily arrange something re collection.
