Our intrepid Margaret Hill has taken a table at the Loreburn Hall in Dumfries this Saturday where she will be taking along some of her own clothes as well as some wonderful quality clothes and accessories donated by supporters. If you are in the town, why not pop along and say hello to Margaret and have a browse. She will be wearing her DCGR fleece. You can be sure of a bargain. All funds raised go to the Greyhounds in our care.

🐾 Foster Homes for Greyhounds 🐾

We are looking for foster carers across Dumfries & Galloway and Cumbria to help greyhounds on their journey to finding forever homes.

Our dogs come with a range of personalities and needs. Some are young, confident, and happy to live alongside other dogs from the start. Others would benefit from being the only dog in the home initially and need patient, gradual socialisation as they adjust to life outside of kennels. Unfortunately we would not be able to place a greyhound in a foster home with cats or small furries.

Fostering is a really rewarding way to make a difference. By temporarily fostering a greyhound, you will help us learn more about each dog's character, support their transition into home life, and give them the best possible chance of finding the right family.

Whether you have previous greyhound experience or are completely new to greyhounds we would love to hear from you and full support will be provided throughout the fostering period.

Fantastic greyhound get together and walk to Allonby today. Fourteen greyhounds and a lurcher had a stroll down the shore in lovely weather, back via Twentyman's ice cream shop for Doggy Dazzlers for the pups and cones for the humans. Great to meet some prospective new greyhound adopters and we raised £45. Brilliant 🥰

Just look at that smile! 😍 Bono is a handsome medium sized boy, not yet 3 years old, who is ready to find his forever home. 🏡❤️

This lovely lad walks beautifully on the lead, loves his cuddles 🤗, enjoys his adventures 🚶‍♂️🐾, and is friendly with everyone he meets. His gentle nature and happy smile make him a firm favourite with our team. 🖤

DOGS LIFE EXHIBITION. Along with the Guide Dogs, DCGR have been invited to the Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries to promote the work we do and raise funds via charity tin donations during the time the exhibition is in the town. This touring exhibition displays art by contemporary British and international artists and runs from the beginning of June until September - all inspired by dogs.
It has been agreed that DCGR will be allocated space in the foyer on Saturday 25th July and Saturday 15th August both 11am till 3pm. The plan is to have 2 adopted greys both doing 2 hour stints from 11am till 1pm and 1pm until 3pm with a homeless hound popping in at some point.
Early days yet and more information will follow but if you are interested in helping out with your grey, could you please contact us in the usual way, letting us know your preferred day and time slot.
This is an ideal forum to showcase our small but very successful charity. Hope to hear from you soon.

Well done to Margaret Hill for raising £116 at the Car Boot Sale organised by Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue at their Open Day at Glencaple. Margaret took along some of her home made beds made from re-cycled materials as well as some doggy related bits and bob's. Footfall wasn't as busy as expected but didn't Margaret do well.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared our special posts for Bob and Dan. Your support worked its magic, and Bob has now packed his bags and headed off to his wonderful new home! 🏡❤️

Now it's Dan's turn!

Dan is having a fantastic time in his temporary home. So far, his hobbies include shopping trips, browsing art galleries, wild swimming, garden zoomies, and generally being wherever his humans are. If there's an adventure to be had, Dan would like to be first in line! 🐾

He's looking for a forever home where he can be the only dog, and while he's working hard on his meet-and-greet skills when out and about, he'd prefer a home away from livestock and without any small furry roommates.
Dan is a loving, affectionate boy who makes friends wherever he goes. He loves people, enjoys exploring new places, and is always ready to join you for a walk, a day out, or even just a trip to the local shops. He's got plenty of love to give and is patiently waiting for a family of his very own.

Please keep sharing and help us find Dan the happy ending he deserves. Let's see if we can work the same magic for him as we did for Bob! ❤️🐶
