About Us

Our charity is based on the belief that all animals deserve a loving and comfortable home and meeting these needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to getting results for the animals in our care and we all work towards the goal of creating a loving environment, whether in our care or in their new homes, our charity aims to promote health and well being in all th

e animals we care for. The History

Animal Aid was founded in 1990 by Susan Geeleher and Kay Sheridan and was granted charitable status in September 1990 by the Charity Commission, registered charity no 1143133. Its main aims are to rescue abused and abandoned cats and to offer them a safe environment with any medical care that the animals require. At first we rented 6 units from private boarding kennels in Melling; we eventually were able to rent all the units and build a cattery. As the volunteer base grew, in 1992 we were offered a piece of land in Field Lane, Fazakerley at a peppercorn rent and we were able to build 12 kennels, a large cattery and a small administration unit. Unfortunately after 3 years at Field Lane, the owner sold the land for redevelopment and we had to move out. The cats are now housed in a purpose built cattery. We ensure that any person wishing to adopt any of our animals has the necessary home checks to ensure a safe and loving environment before adoption is agreed. The Charity relies on donations from the public and the income from the shop which is staffed entirely by volunteers - without their help we would not be able to function.

Some of our boys and girls still looking for that special forever home.

Some of the cats need certain types of homes to suit their needs. Some don't get along well with other cats, some need a quiet home and
Some are a bonded pair so we would like them to be rehomed together.

Si Si and her 4 gorgeous babies are doing really well and all starting to develop their own little personalities now. Peggy seems to be the lady of the group just watching her two ginger brothers Max and Bradley rolling around together play fighting and little Roxy likes to try and join in with them. Si Si is only 12 months old herself but is the most amazing mum to these 4 cuties and they are all a joy to watch everyday 🥰

We are still not reserving any of this family yet to anyone as they are still only a few weeks old but they are all doing really well. ❤

Our beautiful Carrot went into the vets this morning for neuter and is now back at the rescue. When I went to pick him up the vet nurse told me that when they put him under to operate they discovered that his testicles were badly bruised. We don't know what has happened to him before coming into us and I dread to think if this was an act of cruelty. This might explain why he is so untrusting at the moment. He has been neutered and had a health check and is on pain relief so hopefully our little man will have a speedy recovery ❤

Sharing for the owner of this little lady 🙏 ❤

Has anyone seen Orion/"Kitten"?
Kirkby L33 area.

Will look like a small grey cat/kitten from a distance, but is grey tortoiseshell.
She is not actually a kitten, she's a very small 7 year old cat. Microchipped & spayed.
May have discharge from nose/sneeze. She is under vet care and has a second CT scan booked Thursday morning.
She does not normally free roam, has gotten out of my enclosed garden today (aug 4th). Usually comes when I call her and she isn't. She is very loved and i'm very worried.

Was a feral farm kitten and still does not like strangers so I'd be surprised if someone has managed to get hold of her.

Hoping she's just hiding from the wind

Our gorgeous kloppy has left the building.
Today he starts his new life with his new mum Hannah. Kloppy hasn't been with us long only 3 months and he is the sweetest, affectionate and most gentle boy. We are so happy for him and wish kloppy and Hannah all the best for the future.
Well done Kloppy ❤

Little update on the young ginger Tom that was left outside the rescue on Monday, we have now named him Carrot and he is doing well as in he is eating and drinking but obviously is still scared an very unsure and confused of what is going on and is still a bit hissy with us. It is going to take time and patience to gain his trust as he is so wary of us right now. We will go at his pace and take each day as it comes. With him being an in tact male we have kept him in a separate part of our isolation area as we don't want to upset new mum Si Si.
He is now booked in with our vets on Wednesday to be nuetrered as we have to keep them for at least a week before we can go ahead with spay or castration incase an owner comes forward. We still have no idea where this little boy came from or his story or if the person that left him was even his owner.
Thank god our neighbour was there to keep him safe till the shop opened as anyone could of picked this little guy up.
Please do not ever dump an animal outside a rescue or anywhere for that matter as you never know what hands they may end up in, at least make sure they are safe instead of leaving them for anyone to take.
Carrot is safe with us now and with a bit of love, care and lots of treats am sure our new boy will come round soon.
Welcome to the Animal Aid family Carrot 🧡

Oops!!! we have checked again today and we have 2 boys and 2 girls!!
Max, Bradley, Peggy and Roxy after Eastenders characters!!

SiSi is the most amazing, beautiful caring mummy to her gorgeous 😍 babies. Three boys and one girl all doing well.
I just had to have a special moment with this fabulous family.
We are all so proud of SiSi ,she's only a youngster herself at twelve months old and now a brilliant mummy.
Well done SiSi.

UPDATE ON BAMBI
After receiving some interesting information tonight regards to this story, we now believe our instincts were correct.
Bambis owner hasn't passed away but rather she was unlawfully and selfishly removed from the person's garden because they didn't want her around the bird tables, this was brought up numerous times which set the suspicions off.
Just an absolute awful thing to do to a little cat just wandering around, taken away then threatened with abandonment if we didn't take her in. We are just sorry she hasn't got a microchip, which could have made all the difference in her sad story.
We are therefore seeking her rightful owner who is no doubt sat at home wondering what's happened to their pet .
This just isn't right in every way but it's done and she's safe with us ,hopefully shared posts in Hunts Cross area will find their way to Bambis owner.
We knew something was so wrong with the whole story but we took the word of this older person, though our suspicions were raised, gut feeling in rescue is often justified. Please share .

This beautiful girl was brought to us yesterday from the Hunts Cross area. The person that brought her to us told us she has been hanging around the garden for a couple of months as her owner had passed away. As always we have to be 100% sure this story is the case and we have took her in as we wouldn't want her being released in unfamiliar territory as we are not sure if she was being seen as a problem going into someone else's garden or not.
So we are looking for her owner as we really don't know if the information that was given to us is correct. Proof of ownership will be required.
She is not microchipped and we have called her Bambi while in our care. 💕

This beautiful ginger Tom was left outside our rescue this morning, fortunately next door took him in and kept him safe until we could.
He's a young unneutered boy ,too stressed for us to scan him for a microchip yet.
He's staying in his carrier for now until he feels confident enough to come out into his enclosure.
We will be keeping him a week until our vets agree to neutering him , they insist we keep them one week to allow for an owner to come forward.
For now he's safe and in a quiet area to settle and hopefully trust his new surroundings.

Another puss was brought into us this morning too ,apparently her owner passed away in May and she's been living outside the property.
More photos soon of both new furry friends.
