- ʜᴜᴍᴀɴ ɪᴅ ᴛʀᴀᴄᴋɪɴɢ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇ -
Finally got round to posting this after a busy couple of weeks…

We have completed the Human ID Tracking Course after 6 in person weekends totalling up to 162(!) hours contact teaching.

We didn’t manage to certify as a handler team, as we only passed 3 out of 5 of the assessments. With that being said…we PASSED 3 out of 5 assessments! And I am so so proud of how far we have come since the start of the course. Reflecting about it now, I’m actually a bit teary thinking how much Avon has come along. I decided to do the course with my crazy, environmental, high energy golden retriever who loves to air scent, I wanted to challenge ourselves as a team, and we got just that!

This was the best course I have ever done hands down, and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. I’ve learnt so so much in the 8 months, with knowledge that will stay with me for life. I no longer have a dog who drags me around for air scent, but a tracking dog following where a person has walked, and works methodically. It’s something I’m bringing back to my clients as forever learning and growing, not just as a team but as an instructor too!

I want to say thank you to & as instructors for how you guided and supported us through the course. I’m incredibly grateful for the friends I have made on this course and everything I have learnt.

I had the busiest and most enjoyable month, and in full transparency I was definitely a little burnt out and got some rest in between everything.

I spent 5 days at Academy part one of the first instructor course. I had a great week learning from the very best, and I can’t wait to bring Tracking workshops to you all 👀 (…coming very soon).

We loved our collaboration with challenging 10 teams at longer trails workshop of completing trails of more than 1km! The handlers loved the challenge, and it was great to see how the dogs handled the distance like champs.

We had our first evening group class of 2026, and it was a joy being able to spend outside after 7pm while it was still LIGHT! Many more evening group classes coming in the next couple of months…

Our last weekend practising the 5 assessments we will face in May for the human ID tracking course with & . I’m so proud of how Avon has progressed since September under Kathryn & Dee’s guidance and I’m actually looking forward to the assessments now 👀

And finally, dog of month for March goes to for always being consistent with Nala, and getting out of your comfort zone to do more with Nala!

Another busy month ahead, and I’m excited to see how we do in the next few weeks!

Trailympics is back this year, and bigger and more competitive than before…

Are you ready to bring technical advancements to your trailing? Enjoy the scenic views of Wales on your 3 day trailing/tracking holiday with your dog? While competing in a series of games and challenges to earn points to become the ultimate winner of this year’s games? And let’s not forget summer event means BBQ right?

You will get to work your dogs on all three days. While you’re not scored on your dogs trailing (e.g. accuracy, speed), you will be scored as a handler such as line handling, trail laying skills. You can also earn points through the series of games and challenges set for the humans throughout the day (think competitive sports day games!)

This Trailympics will be different.. you won’t compete as Team Fox vs Team Frog but as individual teams!
