Precious Paws Liverpool Our Mission is to be the go-to Doggy Day Care, Training and Behaviour Centre in Liverpool & Merseyside.

Our aim is to make sure your dog is happy and healthy and thoroughly enjoys their time at Precious Paws. There are several choices of environment for your dog at Precious Paws Doggy Day Care Liverpool, and we ensure that groups are small and that all dogs have a choice of where they want to play and rest. Our facilities are self contained within a small and very friendly light industrial park, clo

se to all the major transport links – rail, motorway and airport. We have specifically designed and developed the unit to provide the perfect environment for optimising the experiences for dogs. The indoor arena is approximately 1200 sqf and consists of a sleep zone for rest, relaxation and music therapy. Large play area with toys and play equipment, and not forgetting specially allocated areas for puppies and older dogs. Our outdoor arena is over 5000sqf, which is divided into a play arena, agility arena, and has sandpits, a pool (in the summer) and a number of areas for your dogs to choose to spend their time. We believe that our facilities are second to none, and will ensure that your dog has fun in a safe and expertly constructed environment.

Another hot one today! ☀️
The team worked tirelessly in the heat to make sure every dog stayed cool, comfortable and safe throughout the day.
✅ Every dog wore a cool coat
✅ Every cool coat was checked and re-wetted every 30 minutes
✅ Indoor and outdoor temperatures were checked and recorded every 30 minutes
✅ Plenty of shade was available throughout the day
✅ Calm enrichment activities replaced high-energy play
✅ Paws were regularly cooled and checked

Many people don't realise that dogs don't sweat like we do. The only sweat glands they have are in their paw pads, which is one reason why keeping paws cool during hot weather is so important. Dogs mainly rely on panting to regulate their body temperature, so helping them stay cool before they become too warm is always our priority.

As always, our dogs come first. Their welfare is never compromised, and the support from our wonderful clients during these hotter days means so much to us.

⚠️ Reminder: We will be closing early tomorrow and Friday, with all dogs needing to be collected by 2pm at the latest. This is to protect both the dogs and our hardworking team, who also need to stay safe in these extreme temperatures.

Wow, what a scorcher! ☀️🔥😅

We started the day with some outdoor play while it was still cooler 🌅🐕. As each dog arrived, their cool coat was fitted and checked every 30 minutes throughout the day ⏱️, with regular re-wetting to make sure they remained effective 💧. Our ice machine was working overtime too 🧊, helping to keep water bowls cool and providing refreshing cooling treats 🍧🐶.

Gazebos, parasols and shaded areas were set up across the site ⛱️🌳, and the team worked tirelessly to keep every pup comfortable 💪🐾. In fact, for most of the day the dogs weren't even panting, which shows just how well they coped with the measures we had in place 😊.

Paws were cooled regularly 🐾❄️, temperatures were monitored every half hour 🌡️, and the indoor area was deliberately kept closed off during the morning to maintain a cooler environment 🏠. As soon as temperatures reached 29°C, all dogs were brought indoors to ensure they remained safe and comfortable 🐶❤️.

As the day got hotter, the grassed arenas were closed because the ground temperature was rising rapidly 🔥🌱. However, the undercover area and our shaded Sniffari remained available for those wanting a little outdoor time 🌿🐕. Raised beds helped keep dogs off the hot ground 🛏️, while bucket chairs provided plenty of comfy spots for an afternoon snooze 😴.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful owners for supporting our heatwave safety measures and collecting their dogs by 3pm today 🙏🐾. Your cooperation makes such a difference and allows us to always put welfare first ❤️.

With temperatures predicted to be even higher 📈🔥, we will be closing at 2pm tomorrow and Thursday. As always, every decision is made with the dogs' safety and wellbeing as our absolute priority ❤️🐾.

A quick look at some of the photos from yesterday's Puppy Playgroup. 🐾❤️

As many of you know, our focus this week is keeping dogs safe during the current heatwave.
At Precious Paws, safety always comes first, and we are incredibly fortunate to work in partnership with such wonderful owners who understand that every decision we make is based on welfare. 🌡️🐶

With temperatures expected to reach extreme levels, we will be closing at 3pm tomorrow and 2pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Whilst much of our activity takes place indoors and in shaded areas, the forecast temperatures are simply too high for dogs to be playing safely throughout the afternoon.

We know these changes can be inconvenient, and we are so grateful for the support and understanding our Precious Paws family always shows. Your willingness to put your dogs' wellbeing first is one of the things that makes this community so special.🫶👏

Please remember that puppies, older dogs, flat-faced breeds, and dogs with underlying health conditions are particularly vulnerable during hot weather. Keep walks short, provide plenty of fresh water, encourage rest, and remember that sometimes the best enrichment is simply relaxing somewhere cool.

It's forecast very hot from tomorrow for the next week, so please remember to keep your dogs safe:‼️🌡

🐾 Walk early morning or later in the evening.
🐾 Avoid hot pavements – place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.
🐾 Always carry fresh water.
🐾 Choose sniff walks and enrichment activities rather than high-energy exercise.
🐾 Make use of shade, cooling coats and paddling pools where appropriate.
🐾 Be especially careful with puppies, senior dogs, overweight dogs and flat-faced breeds.
🐾 Never leave dogs in vehicles, even for a few minutes.
Remember, dogs don't need long walks every day. On hot days, a short sniffari, a busy box, a chew, a Kong or some simple scentwork can be far more beneficial than a lengthy walk in the heat.

As always at PP, welfare comes before everything else. ❤️🐾

A very special Happy Birthday to our gorgeous Kev! 🎉🐾
Everyone's mate, especially Bella ❤️. Kev has been with us since he was just a pup, and over the years he's become such a huge part of the Precious Paws family. As his mum says, he's "not got many brains, but he's got oodles of vibes!" 😂 And to be fair, that sums him up perfectly. Always happy, always smiling, and always ready to spread a bit of Kev chaos wherever he goes.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming two of the cutest newbies today, little Reggie and Peggy 🥰. Both are international rescues who are now living their very best lives. We took everything nice and slowly, allowing them time to explore, decompress and build confidence at their own pace. We'll be supporting them carefully as they settle in and find their paws with us.

With the warm weather continuing, it was all about cool coats, pool sessions and plenty of calm time in the Sniffari. 🌿💦 Keeping dogs cool isn't just about shade and water, it's also about managing excitement levels and ensuring they get opportunities to rest and regulate.

A little reminder that even when the sun disappears behind the clouds, it can still be very hot for our dogs. Please continue to take care, avoid the hottest parts of the day where possible, provide plenty of fresh water and help prevent your dogs from overheating.

Thursday at Precious Paws 🐾
Maisie proving that her life really is a beach! 🏖️ She absolutely loves the sandpit and today took relaxation to a whole new level by falling asleep in it! 😴🐶

Jett, our gorgeous Chow, decided for the first time ever to give the pool a try. He discovered that getting his feet in and splashing about was actually quite good fun! 💦 He wasn't interested in a full swim, but a little paddle was definitely approved by Jett.

The crazy Spaniels, of course, got completely soaked at every opportunity. If there's water involved, you can guarantee they'll find it! 😂💦
A very happy birthday to our wonderful little Mabes 🎂🎉 I first met Mabes when she was just 8 weeks old during a puppy home visit. Since then she's been through puppy playgroup, training and daycare with us. It's such a privilege to watch them grow up and become part of the Precious Paws family. ❤️

As always, we managed some fabulous group shots and individual photos. There were so many great pictures today that we've had to make collages so we can share as many as possible with you all! 📸🐾

Tuesday at Precious Paws 🐾☀️

Very happy today! 😆 Cover star is gorgeous Pandora.

With the heat still hanging around, it was all about keeping things calm, safe and enjoyable. The herb sniffari was a huge hit, although in some cases it was less of a sniffari and more of an all-you-can-eat herb buffet... no names mentioned... Bella! 😂🌿

Dyllie was living his best life with anything involving water, and we've got some brilliant photos
capturing all the splashing fun. 📸

There are also some amazing close-ups today, alongside our usual group shots from the daycare professionals.

As always, we mixed in plenty of training, enrichment, 🦴chew time 👌and relaxation.💤 Lots of shade, lots of rest breaks, and lots of calm activities to help everyone stay comfortable in the warmer weather.

Remember, dogs can struggle in these temperatures, so keep walks sensible, provide plenty of fresh water, seek out shade, and don't be afraid to swap a long walk for some enrichment and sniffing games at home. 🐾💜

🎨🐾 A Massive Shout Out to 🐾🎨
We now have two commissioned drawings from the incredibly talented – one of Frankie and one of Bliss. Don't worry, Koi fans, hers is already on the way too! ❤️

We are so impressed with his work that we're planning to have a small exhibition of some of his artwork here at Precious Paws. If you've ever thought about having a portrait of your dog commissioned, now is the time to get in touch. Christmas may seem a long way off, but commissions are already being booked and there is a waiting list building.🎄🎅

Honestly, the talent this artist has is remarkable. The detail, expression and personality he captures in every drawing is incredible. The prices are also extremely reasonable. In all honesty, I would happily have paid double for the quality of artwork he produces.🫶

We also have something rather special planned for Christmas involving this amazing artist, so keep an eye on our page over the coming months. 👀🎄

In the photos you'll see the original pictures I sent over alongside the finished drawings. The likeness is just unbelievable. Somehow, he doesn't just draw the dog, he captures who they are.❤️

🐾 Puppy Playgroup 🐾
Another lovely puppy playgroup yesterday morning.
We started with our snuffle mats, helping the puppies settle and relax while working in a distracting environment. Sniffing is such an important activity for puppies and is a fantastic way to encourage calm behaviour.✅️

Next up was Touch, ✋️helping the pups gain some focus and engagement with their owners before moving on to our main exercise.

Yesterday's training focus was impulse control. The puppies did a brilliant job practising a sit while we gradually reduced the distance between them and the other pups, increasing the level of distraction as they progressed. This is a great foundation skill for helping puppies learn to make good choices, even when exciting things are happening around them.
Of course, we then had some supervised playtime, allowing the puppies to socialise and practise their communication skills.

To finish, we all enjoyed some calm-down time using tea towel twists. We love showing owners simple, enriching and inexpensive activities that can easily be recreated at home to keep puppies mentally stimulated.🐶🦴👍

We also had a chat about the importance of the 3 Ds (Distance, Duration and Distraction), the benefits of sniff walks, and why being present with your dog on walks is so important.

Put the mobile phone away, 📵f ocus on your puppy, build that relationship and bond,👌 and stay aware of your surroundings. 👀Your dog will thank you for it.

🏆🐾 **Pup of the Month – Mylo 🐾🏆
This month's Pup of the Month is our gorgeous Mylo the Sprocker! ❤️

Mylo will be 6 years old in December and he's one of our original Precious Paws family members. I first met him when he was just 8 weeks old during a puppy home visit. Since then he's been through puppy playgroup✅️, training classes✅️ and has spent many happy years attending daycare with us.🫶
Watching dogs grow from tiny puppies into wonderful adult dogs is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and Mylo is a perfect example of that.

Like many Spaniels, Mylo struggled with some resource guarding behaviours when he was younger. With lots of consistency, patience and teamwork between us and his fantastic mum and dad, we worked through those challenges together. Fast forward to today and those behaviours are now pretty much non-existent.👍👏

Mylo is a credit to his family. He plays beautifully with dogs of all ages, sizes and personalities. Young pups, older dogs, little dogs and big dogs alike all get on well with him. He has a particular soft spot for Kevin the Frenchie, enjoys spending time with Harvey, and like most of the Precious Paws crew, absolutely adores Jordan! ❤️

His mum and dad have been part of the Precious Paws family from the very beginning and have always been willing to put the work in to help Mylo become the lovely dog he is today. Success stories like Mylo's are always a team effort.

Recently Mylo had a haircut and has earned himself a brand-new nickname... "Haircut 100" 🤣✂️
He seems very pleased with his new short trim, complete with his little mullet on top. Naturally, we've all enjoyed taking the mickey out of him just a little bit!

Mylo is a very special little boy and we absolutely adore him. In truth, we feel that way about every single dog entrusted to our care. They are all precious to us and treated as if they were our own.
