Hi all, as my Tuesday client’s are already aware, I have not scheduled any walks for today. Only pop ins will be happening today and any days coming up where the weather is too hot 🥵

Walking dogs in hot weather can quickly lead to overheating, heatstroke, and burned paw pads from scorching pavement.

Dogs don’t sweat like humans; they mainly cool through panting, which is less effective in high heat or humidity, especially for brachycephalic breeds (like pugs and bulldogs), seniors, puppies, and overweight dogs. Signs of heat stress include heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, wobbling, vomiting, or bright red gums.

To reduce risk, walk at dawn or dusk, test pavement with the back of your hand (if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them), stick to shade or grass, bring water, slow the pace, and skip the walk entirely on extreme days in favor of short potty breaks and indoor enrichment.
