🚨One day to go 🚨
Tomorrow at 3pm (Sunday), the UK Government will be testing the Emergency Alerts system. This will trigger a loud, siren-like sound on most mobile phones – even if they’re on silent.

If you have a dog who’s noise-sensitive or prone to anxiety, it’s worth switching the alert off in advance to help avoid any unnecessary stress.

Here’s how to turn it off:
• Go to Settings on your phone
• Tap Notifications
• Scroll down to Emergency Alerts
• Turn off Extreme alerts and Severe alerts

Every dog is different, but sudden, unfamiliar sounds can be very upsetting – especially for nervous or elderly dogs. Planning ahead means you can keep things calm and reassuring.

That’s it – Mandy has come to the end of her time with us! 🐾💔

Even though it rained every single day, she still made sure we had lots of fun. We got to play in the garden when the weather wasn’t too bad, had indoor toy time when it was, and even snuggled up for movie nights (with extra chicken… shhh, don’t tell Mum! 🍗🎬).

Thank you so much, Mandy, for looking after us – we’ve loved every minute. Can’t wait to see you again soon! 🐶❤️

Love,
Austin, Dotty, Rosie & Bella 🐾

🌧️🐾 Quick trot round the block with Mandy this evening before the heavens opened yet again! Phew, just in time!

It’s been raining ALL day here and we are not impressed… soggy paws are not our thing. We much prefer dry fur, thank you very much. 🐶✨

Love from,
Austin, Bella, Dotty & Rosie 💕

Am I seriously in the wrong? 🤔

Why do people insist their dogs must come and say hello to mine?

When I politely say, “Can you keep your dog away, please?” I mean it with respect. Yet so often, I get the eye-roll, the huff, or the classic, “Oh, my dog only wants to say hello!” — as if that gives them a free pass.

Here’s the truth:
🚫 My dogs don’t need to greet every dog.
🚫 Saying no doesn’t make me rude.
🚫 Protecting my dogs’ space doesn’t make them dangerous.

Not every dog wants or needs social interaction with strange dogs, and that’s perfectly okay. Boundaries matter — for dogs and their humans.

So no, I’m not in the wrong. I’m just advocating for my dogs. And I’ll always continue to do so. 💪🐾

Why You Shouldn’t Use a Human Defibrillator on Pets ⚡🚫

We all want to help in an emergency, but if your dog or cat collapses, grabbing a public AED (defibrillator) isn’t the answer.

❌ Human AEDs are built for people. The size, heart rhythms, and electrical settings are calibrated for the human body.
❌ Using one on an animal could cause harm instead of helping.

✅ Veterinary clinics DO use defibrillators — but these are specialised, adjustable machines designed specifically for animals.

👉 If your pet goes into cardiac arrest:

Start CPR right away

Get to the nearest emergency vet immediately

Call ahead so the team is ready

Public AEDs save human lives every day, but they won’t work effectively on pets. The best way to be prepared is to learn pet CPR and know your local emergency vet clinics. 💙🐾

🐾 The Science of Feeding Your Dog Once a Day 🐾

Have you heard the debate about feeding dogs one meal a day instead of two? Recent research has given us some interesting insights 👇

🔬 What the Science Says:
• A large study from the Dog Aging Project found dogs fed once daily had better cognitive health (like a younger brain!)
• These dogs also showed lower odds of certain health issues – including gut problems, liver disease, dental disease, and joint issues
• The theory is that longer gaps between meals may give the body time to “rest and repair,” similar to intermittent fasting in humans

⚠️ But Here’s the Catch:
• The study only shows a link – it doesn’t prove one meal is the cause
• Puppies, seniors, small breeds, or dogs with health conditions (like diabetes) may not do well on one meal
• Some dogs can develop hunger pukes (vomiting bile), food anxiety, or even behavioral issues
• It can also be tricky to get all nutrients into just one meal without overloading the stomach

✨ The Takeaway:
Feeding once a day might have health benefits, but it’s not right for every dog. Your dog’s age, breed, health, and lifestyle all matter. Always talk with your vet before making big changes.

👉 Would you ever try feeding your dog once a day, or do you prefer sticking with two?
