⭐️Well WOW!! another Trail Hunt International achievement under their belts!!⭐️ This time it was Line Handling! 💙 I was so impressed with all 4 teams.
Line handling is not an easy skill to master, you could say its an art! And this wasn't an easy environment for this achievement! Well done all of you 👏⭐️

My favourite Trail Hunts are the ones that teach us, just like Cassey’s this morning.

We should always be thinking about the environment and how the odour might have travelled. This “best guess” helps us decide whether to let our dogs keep working it out or step in with a little support.

Today’s trail was windy and on a lot of hard surfaces. I didn’t help, and at times we were quite a way from the actual track I had walked, but she wasn’t wrong. I saw at least three clear negative indications, some lovely casting, and a wonderful emotional shift when we reached proximity.

🤔 So think carefully about the environment when you lay your trail, then use that knowledge to better understand your dog’s body language and decision-making along the way.

Your dog may be the expert when it comes to scent work but never forget that this is definitely a team effort! 👊
