So our last interest in Trapper fell through and he is still in Foster.

We would love him to find his forever home so that our Foster team can help another long stayer in the the Greyhound Trust kennels.

If anyone is interested to come along and meet him then do get in touch with us, he will come full vaccinated up to date with meds and with all his belongings he’s gathered together since he has been in a home.

A greyhound who has spent some time outside of kennels is always easier to settle in than those straight from racing

Over looked / black and large he needs a break and a loving home to give him the lifestyle he is currently enjoying.

We will support you in the early months and offer a foster to adopt period to make sure he settles with you.

Come on let’s find a home for this big lad.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Jilly Cooper - best-selling author, much-loved public figure, and a kind supporter of Greyhound Trust.

Jilly was a long-standing friend and patron of ours, sharing her life with her adored greyhound, Feather. She once said:

🗣️ “My greyhound Feather is the complete love of my life and the most charming, gentle, sweet, beguiling and funny dog I have ever owned... he is a sweet, lovely dog and has brought so much happiness into our household. I'm so grateful to Greyhound Trust for all the wonderful work they're doing to help Greyhounds everywhere.”

Jilly’s warmth, wit and love for greyhounds touched so many. She will be greatly missed, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on.

💚 Rest in peace, Jilly.

Thanks to Sighthound Social Club for running a little stall for us today at their global greyhound walk and raising £595 for us.

It’s very much appreciated especially with some vetinary costs that have come in for our new sponsor hound Sammy.

We will be sharing details about him next week..

You will have seen our post on Monday about Trapper who is currently in foster with Diego the greyhound & Buddy the labradoodle, and loving life!

Let’s hear from the big lad himself….

“Hi everyone, Trapper here 😊

After 18 months in kennels at Greyhound Trust Dudley they asked me if I wanted to see what it was like in a home and I said yes please! My foster companion Lucy brought Diego and Buddy to meet me and then I went to their house to check out the place and really liked it. I’ve been living here for a week and already starting to get the hang of it. I was really keen on my food at first and I also took a shining to Lucy’s pens! But I calmed down with all that after a couple of days.

I had a trip to the barbers with Buddy as he was getting a haircut and I had a spruce up, then we played chase in the big secure field we have to play in, well, of course Buddy chased me, or should I say, tried to… it was brilliant fun!

After that I chilled out with my new pointy nosed pal, Diego, despite me having a brand new bed of my own.

I’ve been concentrating all week on bed fails and think I’m just about supreme champion! I’ve also found the sofa and this is super comfy. Think I’m going to love being in a home.”

This gorgeous 4-year-old boy is blossoming in his foster home with his new companions. He walks beautifully on the lead, loves playtime, and gets along with other dogs. He’s affectionate, quick to learn, and full of fun.

Best suited to a home with older children, Trapper would love a family to call his own. Could that be you? 🐾

Meet Trapper

Trapper turned 4 this year and has been waiting patiently at our Dudley branch for his forever home since retiring 18 months ago. If you are searching for a striking black beauty then look no further. Trapper might be a big lad but don't let that fool you. Thanks to some dedicated one to one time over the past few months, he now walks like a dream: calm, collected, and beautifully to heel. He's a joy to handle and has simply been overlooked for far too long.

A firm favourite among the volunteers at our Dudley branch, Trapper stole hearts with his gentle nature and playful spirit. To give him the best chance of finding his forever home, we asked if he would benefit from being in a foster home with us at Hall Green and the two branches made that happen. Before that he had been out on solo walks along busy roads, gaining confidence with every outing. He is unfazed by other breeds and has shown lovely manners during his short stays in volunteers' homes - clean, relaxed and toy-loving.

Now settling into foster life with one of our Foster Teams in Derbyshire. Trapper is doing really well. He shares his space with two canine companions: Diego, a wise older greyhound and Buddy, a bouncy Labradoodle. He's taken it all in his stride. After a couple of food-focused days ( who wouldn't be excited by a new routine ? ), he's already mellowing out. He's even snuggled up with Diego and had blast racing with Buddy in his off-lead field - though Buddy couldn't quite keep up!

Trapper is affectionate, clever and full of fun. He'd make a wonderful addition to a loving home, ideally with older children who can match his energy and size. If you are ready to welcome a loyal companion who's ready to give you his whole heart, Trappers waiting for you.

Could you be the one to give Traper the forever home he deserves.💚

If you think so then please get in touch with us so we can arrange for you to come along and meet him our number is 0121 426 4810 or email us at [email protected]

Was great to see how well the event at the weekend went. The weather was kind to us, all of the stalls and branches seemed to be kept busy and the dog shows were well attended.

A credit to many of the adopters because there were some terrific greyhounds around the the show ground and they all seemed to be enjoying their moments - plenty of cuddles, lots of fuss and of course the occasional treat.

Thanks to all the organisers and branches that made it a good event… 💚🐾

Homing with Greyhound Trust Hall Green

As Chair of Greyhound Trust Hall Green, I am proud to say that I work with a tremendous group of volunteers who are dedicated to finding homes for the Greyhounds who come in to our care.

Our Motto is "Homing just one Greyhound won't change the world... but the world will surely change for that one Greyhound”.

The volunteers, including myself give up their time to walk, socialise and help find the greyhounds their “forever” home at no cost to the Branch. This includes attending awareness events at all times of the year, standing in the cold, wet and windy weather when really they would prefer to be in the comfort of their homes or driving to home visits across the Country because they want to help a hound find that perfect home. We want to ensure that when we home we give the new owners every attention and help we can to ensure where possible the homing is a success. This continues from the day of homing until their beloved greyhound passes over rainbow bridge.

New Owners become part of the “Greyhound Trust Hall Green Family” which we are very proud of. This ensures we support everyone who is part of the Branch, including those volunteers or supporters who cannot own a greyhound, but put their time and effort into helping us raise awareness of this wonderful breed. This includes donating raffle prizes, knitting, sewing, baking, making crafts and much more.
