Toby came for a treadmill session today and proved age doesn't have to be barrier!

At the grand age of 33 years he became our oldest client ❣

💪Regular sessions at any age can help with mobility and strength and is a great low impact option for older horses.

🎉🎉 Congratulations to Molly and Ferrero, Open reserve supreme at Green lands WH Championship show.

Ferrero was a favourite with us, spending a few weeks getting back into work last year. After a gradual build up using the water treadmill, walker and combo floor he started ridden work.
It's lovely to see the dedication and work Molly has put in paying off ❤️

Lovely evening last night hosting Lancaster and District Branch of the Pony Club. Bit chilly but Mouse demonstrated water treadmill and weighbridge, Milton added a bit of cuteness and a guess the weight challenge. Finally couple decided that the combo floor needed trying for themselves 😁

❓Has your horse ever been on a water treadmill ❓

We often hear phrases like “I don’t think he’ll go on”, “Not that keen on water/puddles/streams”, “Not great at loading”....

Horses are incredible and it's amazing what they will accept. It’s important for them to have a good first time experience so our expert team take it very slowly.

🖐Hi, I’m Clare founder of Bowland Equine Therapy on a mission to help horses be healthy and happy 😊

🐴 Horse mad from first words, I had a share in first pony at age 11. (Yes that is me and yes that was accepted riding gear – jodhs were for shows only!).

🏡I live with Phil, great chef and DIY extraordinaire, in the Forest of Bowland. We have glorious views across Morecambe Bay to the Lakes, Blackpool tower and even the Isle of Man.

😼Current furry friends include Macavity cat, Mini Milton, Charlie pony and Mouse (home waiting for another border collie..)

🍷Definite weakness for gin, red wine and chocolate (especially maltesers)

🌄Mountains are my go-to holiday trekking in the summer, skiing (badly) in the winter

Did you know we can weigh your horse (and you...) ?

5 reasons to use a weighbridge 👉

1. Monitoring weight is crucial to horse health, never more so than going into spring and summer.

2. Accurate - weigh tapes and body condition scoring are excellent at highlighting larger changes in weight but small changes can be missed.

3. Checking weight on a regular basis means timely adjustments can be made, decreasing the risks associated with being over or under weight.

4. Having an accurate weight is necessary for medication and worming

5. Calculate feed requirements

If your horse or pony is carrying a little too much condition work on the treadmill can help weight loss and muscle tone with low concussion risk.

Recently we said goodbye to Edd. He holds the record for the longest rehab stay of 14 months! He came for full box rest and progressed to ridden trot work. Now, after a long trip is united with his owner in Ireland to continue his journey. Keeping everything crossed for this lovely horse with huge character ❤
