Lancaster Vets Always have your pets’ best interests at heart🩷🐾 Please do pop in with your pet and say hello - we're looking forward to meeting you!

Lancaster Vets has been part of the community since 2000, bringing the personal touch to veterinary care that we think is so important. We think getting to know each of our patients and clients personally and ensuring they receive the care they deserve is the best way to provide fantastic veterinary services. We offer all of the services for the day-to-day care of your family pet, from vaccination

s and consultations to routine operations. We also welcome visiting experts who can provide soft tissue surgery, cardiology and orthopaedics, without you having to travel to an unfamiliar surgery. When visiting Lancaster Vets please be aware that we have a car park to the left of the building and full disability access throughout the practice!

🌡️ Hot weather reminder! Make sure your cats (and other pets!) always have access to fresh, cool water, shady spots, and avoid the hottest parts of the day. This little one is showing us exactly how it’s done. 💧🐱

🚗🌡️ Just popping into the shop? Please don’t take your dog with you.

Even on what feels like a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise to dangerous levels in just minutes. At only 22°C outside, the inside of a car can reach 47°C.

Dogs can’t cool themselves as effectively as we can, making them extremely vulnerable to heatstroke, which can become life-threatening very quickly.

🐾 This week, please remember:
☀️ Leave your dog safely at home if you need to run errands.
💧 Always provide access to fresh water and shade.
🌅 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.

If you see a dog showing signs of heatstroke (excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, collapse or vomiting), move them to a cool area, start cooling them with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your vet immediately.

Help us spread the word by sharing this post—it could save a life. ❤️🐶

☀️ The sun is out… but so is the risk of burnt paws! 🐾

Did you know that when the air temperature is 25°C, pavements can reach over 50°C? At 30°C, they can exceed 57°C – hot enough to burn your dog’s paw pads in seconds.

🐶 Before heading out:
• Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
• Stick to grass or shaded routes where possible.
• Try the 7-second test – if you can’t comfortably hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Heatstroke can develop quickly, so keep walks short, take plenty of water, and never leave your dog in a parked car.

Let’s keep our four-legged friends safe this summer! ☀️ 🐾 💛

🐾 Hi everyone, Teddy here! 🐾

Today I went to Lancaster Vets to see Helen for my puppy vaccinations. I had LOTS of important questions...

🐶 "What exactly is a vaccination?"
🐶 "Will it stop me chasing leaves?"
🐶 "Can I still zoom around the garden afterwards?"
🐶 "Why do humans keep telling me I'm a brave boy?"
🐶 "And most importantly... where are the treats?"

Helen was very patient and answered all of my questions (even the silly ones!). She gave me lots of fuss, made sure I was healthy, and explained to my humans how my vaccinations help protect me while I'm busy growing into a big, adventurous dog.

I was very brave for my injection, if I do say so myself. I barely noticed it... especially when the treats appeared! 🍖

Now I'm one step closer to exploring the big wide world, making new friends, and sniffing absolutely everything I can find. 🌍🐾

Thank you, Helen, for looking after me today!

Love,
Teddy 🐶❤️

P.S. If you're a puppy coming in for your vaccinations, don't worry - the humans at Lancaster Vets are very nice, and there may even be snacks involved! 😉

🎉 Huge congratulations to Lily! 🎉

We are absolutely delighted to share that Lily has passed all of her veterinary nursing exams with a Distinction and is now officially a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)! 🩺🐾

Lily first joined Lancaster Vets in 2023 for work experience, and we're so proud to have watched her grow throughout her student veterinary nurse training. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment to providing the very best care for our patients have been evident every step of the way.

Not only is Lily a compassionate nurse, but she is also always smiling, fantastic with our clients, and a truly valued member of the Lancaster Vets team. Her positive attitude and caring nature make her a pleasure to work alongside, and we're incredibly lucky to have her.

We are thrilled that Lily will be continuing her journey with us as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

Please join us in congratulating Lily on this wonderful achievement – we couldn't be prouder! 👏🎓🐶🐱

🎉 Vaccine card bingo! 🎉

Thor and Loki popped in to see Rachel for their annual booster vaccinations, and it was a special visit for both boys - they've officially filled up their vaccination record cards! 🐱✅

While Loki was busy celebrating this milestone, Thor had other ideas. Halfway through the consultation, he decided it was the perfect opportunity to settle down for a nap. After all, staying up to date with your boosters is exhausting work! 😴🐾

Both cats were fantastic patients, and we're delighted to have helped them complete their vaccine card bingo.

Well done, Thor and Loki - although next time, Thor, try to stay awake for the celebrations! 🎊💙

One pram, one sausage dog, and one very important appointment... 🐾

Ralphie arrived at Lancaster Vets this week for his post-operative check with Helen, making quite the entrance as he cruised through the door in his pram! ✨

We think it's safe to say Ralphie has set the bar high for future arrivals at the practice! 😄

When Robyn Met Winnie 🐾💛

We had the pleasure of meeting lovely little Winnie, a 2-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, who came in to see Steph for her second vaccination.

Winnie was full of puppy charm and curiosity, and she took everything in her stride while visiting the practice. Her vaccinations are an important step in helping to protect her as she grows and starts exploring the world.🐾
