Nice finish to the day. Training session with this wee beauty to become a gun dog. Hunter the springer spaniel is twelve weeks old and now starting his journey to become a working dog. It’s never to young to start the training. It’s a privilege to be working with owners Ewan (my friend) and son Callum to help train Hunter. Callum has helped work my own dogs on our shooting days and has been desperate for his own wee gundog. Now his journey begins training his own spaniel and sure will do a cracking job, he is already showing excellent dedication to the task in hand. Can’t wait to see them both grow and work together as team over the years to come 🐶😀

Another couple of great training sessions at the weekend, before the heavens opened.

First was Cree the pup with owner Stuart following up more puppy training session

Second I had Diesel who is 7yrs old with owner Julie. Diesel is a bit reactive so I worked with them to establish the cause and techniques to reduce the reactivity

Then thirds was with Penny 14 week cocker spaniel with owner Chris. Which was general puppy training session.

I’m looking forward to working with all again

Fantastic first training session this afternoon with Zak the chocolate lab and owner Greg. We covered general obedience such as heel work, reactivity, recall and retrieving. Zak done outstanding and gave Greg plenty of homework to take away and work on. I’m looking forward to working with them both again.

Some morning training with one of my spaniels Boe. It’s so important to have full control over your dog when out working or on shoots. Notice how he always checks in looking for command and stays close. Regardless if I’m on a shoot or just out walking my dogs always act in the same manner. This is down to daily training and being consistent. Ensuring the dog always checks in and follows where I go not the the opposite way round.steadiness is key. Enjoy your day🐶

What a cracking week weather wise and a fantastic week of group walks. Although we did try to keep in the shade in these warmer conditions. Remember folks just be mindful of your dog in this heat. Avoid walking in direct sun and the hottest points of day to prevent heat exhaustion. Keep your fellow companion well hydrated with plenty of access to water and shade and be mindful of scalding surfaces and pavements etc that can cause serious damage and pain to your dog if walked on them. I’ve cancelled all dog training for the rest of the day and weekend due to the warm conditions.

Was a pleasure to welcome Teddy the boxer to Gary’s Pro Pets group walks. I currently already take his brother Bear out on a Tuesday morning walk so was great to see Teddy old enough to join us in the fun 🐶
