Backstory:
When I was contacted by my publishers back in 2019 to write and illustrate Doggie Language; the original plan was to create a cute gift product, something you enjoy for the pictures, rather than a serious or educational book. I remember at first, being told to keep each page under 100 words, and I was given TWO MONTHS to complete the manuscript. I did that, and am grateful to all the help I received from professional dog behavior consultants (their names are listed in the back of the book). Four years later, this simple little book has sold over 100,000 copies, has been translated to over 15 languages, and has won 2 awards. Thank you to everyone who has bought and supported this book. 🥰🥰 P.S. The holidays will be here soon.

When reading our Dogs body language it is important to look at the whole pet.
A dog may pant, but if they are hot or have been exercising this doesn't necessarily mean they are worried.
A dogs tail may be high up but if it wagging and the rest of the body is soft and relaxed its likely they are happy.

Look at the whole picture🌎

'Piloerection' 'Hackles up' Hair standing on end'

This is caused by the release of the hormone Adrenaline, when your dog is very scared or very very excited.
In most cases its worth taking some time to cool off.
