June is National Microchipping Month
A microchip is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help reunite you with your pet if they ever go missing.
While many pets are already microchipped, it's just as important to make sure your contact details are up to date. Have you recently moved house, changed your phone number, or updated your email address? If so, now is the perfect time to check that your pet's microchip information is current.
A microchip only takes a moment to scan, but it can make all the difference when it comes to getting lost pets safely back home.

Handsome Oban the Manchester Terrier visited our Modbury branch recently for his vaccines.
He was incredibly brave and, of course, earned himself a gravy bone afterwards.
We think he’d happily come back just for the snacks!

Sadly we’ve had a deceased cat brought in to our Modbury branch this morning.

RTA at Harraton Cross in Modbury, by the farm yard. Young adult, black, entire male, not microchipped.

**** owner has been found 😊 ****

We’ve had a tortoise handed in to our kingsbridge branch this afternoon 🐢

We do not believe it is the same tortoise missing from Hope Cove, however we have contacted them just in case 🤞

This tortoise was found in a garden in West Alvington today, very active, medium sized, red mud covering it’s shell, not microchipped.

The sunshine is great… but hot weather can be tough on our furry friends 🐾
Here are a few quick ways to keep pets safe.

- Always bring water on walks
- Stick to shaded areas where possible
- Check pavements before walking, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
- Walk dogs' early morning or later in the evening
- Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes

And remember, some pets struggle with heat more than others, especially flat-faced breeds, older pets, and thick-coated dogs.
