This morning l left my house at 0735 to do one single morning visit. The client is a 12 minute drive from me - on my side of South Shields now even Marsden or Town Centre which take longer.
Roadworks on Jarrow low road delayed me 10 minutes and that was critical. On the way back I hit school run traffic, 9am workers traffic, the usual cabs, vans and trucks that you encounter daily.
Jarrow low road was gridlock because although the roadworks are back up near the Port of Tyne entrance, the queue to get through the tunnel was back up to the roadworks.
I turned back and went along Newcastle Road 5 sets of traffic lights, two light controlled roundabouts and more roadworks on Bede Burn Road.
I got home at 0910
I hour and 35 minutes for a single £10 visit yet people regularly go silent when you quote the price…
I’m not ranting it’s an explanation of why your 20 minute visit costs £10. No I’m not raking it in on £60 an hour - this is reality… just an explanation. It’s rare to get out, do two visits and home in an hour even
So when a self employed person quotes they’re not ‘having your eyes out’ because you wouldn’t work 95 minutes for a tenner less fuel 😂

I’ve currently got clients who are, let’s say, concerned that their precious girl isn’t exhibiting ‘normal’ behaviours for her, with me…

She’s definitely not a ‘lap cat’ and doesn’t court affection… guess what! Yep the Cat Whisperer strikes again - she’s all over me 😂

I’ll tell you two things about cats - they’re territorial and creatures of habit…

That’s why I say regardless that they may settle in catteries, they’re happier at home… their territory; their ‘normal’

Their behaviours will likely change though which is why I always worry about ‘cat flap kitties’… even if you’re working full time they know when you’re due home - to the second lol. Even if they’re used to being left 10 hours a day they’re NOT used to silence 24/7… even if there’s 2 or more of them their routine is still disturbed (which is why I say put Alexa onto radio for some background noise - they’re used to it)…

Their girl is doing fine! She’s eating well, pooping and peeing (sorry) and she’s lost her wariness of me totally (usually by the third day - but there’s exceptions always)

She’s affectionate with me because she’s missing them - and that’s normal!

Yes she’ll be back to her usual self once you’re home (they may make you suffer a 24 hour huff but…) but you can take advantage of the cuddly gene I’ve unlocked and try to steal some snuggles for yourself - the retraining to love an ear scratch is free of charge

I never push them to interact with me but I’m pretty damn persuasive and I am a Crazy Cat Lady - they recognise that 😉
